The hype is real, y'all.
My husband and I were in Florida for a family trip and snuck away for a one-on-one date. We love trying new flavors and found Vargas Cafe and its great reviews, so we decided to give it a try.
The meal I had at Vargas made me so happy I cried. I'm not even kidding, and I don't think I can say that about any other meal.
I anticipated leaving very full because we wanted to try many different things. We started with Coco Rico (a delicious coconut-flavored sweet soda) and tamarind Jarritas soda. Then came tostones (fried underripe platanos) and fried yucca, both of which came out with a garlic sauce that went surprisingly well with the crunch and crisp of the fried starches. Our entrees included a cubano and the fried pork entree, which came with salad I hardly touched and rice and black beans. I highly recommend both of these entree options! I finsihed off my meal with Cuban espresso and dreamily told my husband I could now die happy.
Everything was cooked so well, seasoned so well, and make my taste buds so happy. Even the beans and rice were a delightful surprise. The Cuban recipe will add in a kind of vinegar to the beans which sets it off beautifully. I ate so much and wished I could have kept going.
We still talk about our visit to Vargas, and it will now be an automatic stop on all of our...
Read moreI’m new to Titusville and was delighted when I googled Cuban Restaurants and stumbled upon Vargas Cafe! OMG it’s good! Definitely a small and quaint cafe but full of life, fun and Cuban flavor in the air! What great energy! Beautiful family environment and actually made friends with other people that are regulars at the restaurant as well as the owner which is the one that took our order and served us. It’s a family owned and operated business. Immediately I felt like I was at a favorite relatives place to eat! Now let’s get on with the food. Being that my parents were Cuban and grew up on Cuban food, I know good Cuban food and I must say Vargas is some of the best that I’ve had in my life! The Cuban Sandwich both spicy and regular were delicious. Honestly should be awarded!!!!! The special of the day which was Roast Pork with beans, rice, plantains in toasted Cuban bread was perfection! The portions were large and full of taste. We also had Guava and Cream Cheese Empanadas for dessert that were also amazing. The finishing touch was the Cuban cafecito that you can not leave without having! They have daily specials which I can’t wait to try and also take out. I absolutely recommend Vargas Cafe and dare say it’s my favorite...
Read moreSkip lunch at your hotel and come here!! They have early hours, but wow is it worth it! Go have a early dinner or late lunch here. The food is simply amazing!!! Be prepared for a mom and pop feel in a small shop that is very accommodating. We had a party of 14 and literally filled the shop. The service was great and the food was just again.. AMAZING! I have been to quite a few cuban places in my life being a native Floridian (including in South Florida) and this one is worth every penny! Roast pork, cuban sandwiches, espressos, & cafe con leche were all amazing. Not a single person in our party was disappointed and a few of us ordered things to go because we wanted more and we were stuffed!!! Stop reading, put it in your GPS and go. Yes it wasn't the cheapest place, but it's homemade meals and not that mass cooked trash you get at other places claiming to be authentic. People claiming you can get cheaper food elsewhere is true, but why save $2 and eat food that isn't even half as good? There is a reason they have been around for...
