As a local I’m saddened by the rudeness and sharpness I received at this store today by the two crabby ladies working there. Over the years I have bought my family little trinkets and gifts from here for presents. Today I walked in with my parents who are visiting from out of town and my 5 year old son. I was viewing the lovely colorful crystal wine glasses and thinking how pretty they would look for my home collection. My son wanted to see the glass see up close as he appreciates art and things mommy loves. I was still holding the glass myself letting him view it up close and got snapped at by the lady at the front. “Those are crystal, he should not be playing with those”, she snapped loud enough for the entire store to hear. 1.) He was not playing with them, I had my hand on the entire time. 2.) Of course if I was to drop it myself, I would of course buy it. I was considering buying 4 for myself but not anymore. 3.) Yes my son is 5 but we were simply viewing the wine glass together and appreciating the colors. 4.) Don’t shout at your customers, calmly walk up and maybe quietly see what’s going on and talk to your customers with kindness.
The snapping at me and my son made me never want to step foot in that store again or buy anything from there again. As a local I really enjoy supporting my local businesses, but not if I’m to be snapped at because my son is with me. I suggest getting a glass case if you don’t want items...
Read moreI had just visited this pace not to long ago, it was a neat little store but my only issue was I have a breathing problem and I was going to buy a new mask to try it out and as soon as me and my boyfriend and his other family members walked in and few other people as well, the lady there looked over at us raising her voice to use the hand sanitizer. She did that with every customer that walked in, but the thing that irked me the most was that she saw me 3 times the whole 5 minutes I was in the store (only one with out a mask) and did not say anything until i walked in front of the cash register with a new mask in my hand that i was going to buy and she said that i couldn't be in without one on and i explained that i have a breathing problem and she still said that it was the law not her so i had to leave the store and i put the item away . I was polite with it so i couldn't cause a scene but mind you i was in there for 5 minutes without a mask. But when i was in the other store with the same signs and no mask the lady there was very nice and she understood i couldn't breathe with one on and i was allowed to stay in the store just not...
Read moreWe visited Cape Charles for the first time Saturday. I must say, this was a lovely town and most of the shop owners and locals were extremely friendly. This store however, was not. I guess I shouldn't put the blame on the entire store....just the woman that they had placed in the front to bark orders at you (abruptly) to use their hand sanitizer and to wear your mask properly. It was 90° outside. My family and I were pulling our masks up and down when walking in and out of stores so we didn't have to suffocate the entire time. She barked at my husband to sanitize his hands as soon as he walked through the door. While he was doing so, she barked again to pull his mask up over his nose. He told her that she had to give him a minute as he couldn't do both things at once. Extremely rude and off putting. We left without patronizing even though there were several items I would have loved to buy. I 100% understand the need to be cautious during these odd new times. However, I will never understand the...
