I thoroughly enjoy going to Mason Avenue whether it is in the morning for breakfast or in the afternoon for lunch. I often have difficulty choosing between the chocolate croissant or the ham and cheese croissant in the mornings, but please know that when I can't decide, I get both knowing that I can store in the refrigerator and heat a little the next day and still experience the same exceptional taste and texture as though it was just freshly made and removed from the oven! I try to add a little spice to my life during lunch time and switch up which sandwich I choose, but perhaps my favorite is the Cape Charles sandwich and the Tomato Mozzarella with basil is a close second!
My husband and son are gluten free and I tend to get the peanut butter gluten free cookies, which are so delicious! I can't even get over the huge chocolate chip cookies. When the bakery was closed for a couple weeks in the winter, I put a chocolate chip cookie in the freezer and took it out a couple weeks later and it still tastes so amazing!
I have to admit that I also often order treats for special occasions and the holidays. My go to includes the flourless chocolate torte, chocolate espresso cake and the Parsian cookie cake! I took the espresso chocolate cake toy niece's softball tournament for a weekend and everyone was amazed at how tasty and moist the cake remained even after a couple of days!
This is simply a delightful bakery and I have literally enjoyed every single bakery item I have purchased! Perhaps, most importantly, I enjoy all of the staff with their smiling faces and patience as I figure out what I want to order for that day! Ha!
I highly recommend Mason...
Read moreDuring our first visit to Cape Charles, we discovered this delightful bakery and were so impressed that we returned for a second time during our stay. We initially rated it 4 stars for a couple of reasons. On our second visit, our family of four decided to share two items since we weren't sure what to choose, as they didn't have the same offerings as before. After tasting those, we were eager to go back for more. However, the bakery was quite busy, and I found myself waiting in line for an extended period. When I finally reached the counter, I learned they were out of bread for sandwiches and offered to make them on bagels instead, which I was perfectly fine with. Unfortunately, one of the employees seemed a bit frustrated that I had returned to place another order. It was clear they were overwhelmed by the crowd, which may have contributed to the experience. Overall, while we enjoyed the bakery, the service during our second visit left something...
Read moreWe stumbled across this bakery by accident on a staycation and were completely taken aback by the quality of the items we purchased, as well as how wonderful the two owners were. I ordered the seaside on the walnut and blue cheese sourdough, and it was a truly a phenomenal food experience. Not only was the sourdough incredibly fresh, it had a wonderful combination of flavors and would be reason enough in of itself for us to return to Cape Charles. Not only to explore all of the different varieties of delicious and fresh baked sourdoughs (amongst other items), but also to support a new local business with an...
