Recommend against using this facility. For a number years, I have purchased expensive package deals for my wife, and recommended their services to others. This year I did the same. My wife was scheduled to have a massage. We gifted a friend and both she and her friend were scheduled to have the massage at the same time. We purchased the friend's massage as a gift. Unfortunately, due to an aforementioned circumstance where our condo flooded, and we had to move out, my wife left a message as soon as possible, after the event. However, due to the unexpected timing of the flooding event, she called as soon as the office opened on the day of the appointment, to cancel. The manager stated that there was a 24-hour cancellation policy, and that they would not give credit to use the certificate at another time. In spite of repeated discourse, the manager and owner were unbending. A cancellation policy is understandable, to discourage casual cancellations. However, their obstinate attitude to a regular customer who suffered such an unexpected event, clearly shows lack of concern for long term clients, who regularly showed up on time, tipped generously, and recommended their facility to others. The facility clearly is more concerned about their rigid rules, and pocketbook, over the well-being of their clients, and in maintaining a good client-management relationship. Being a physician, whose practice had a similar policy, we took extenuating circumstances into account, and made exceptions when those circumstances were beyond control of the patient. We showed empathy to patients who experienced unfortunate events, because we truly cared about them. This company clearly doesn't. As such, I can no longer recommend Island Massage and suggest that others...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went the day of my birthday as a good friend gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. It was $100 gift certificate and the massage was $90. They do not let you use the $10 towards tip so be aware of that when you buy a gift certificate for someone. I used the remaining $10 towards a foot scrub at the end of the massage which does take away from your massage time. Also be aware that it is a paper gift certificate so don't lose it. As someone who owns a medical aesthetics practice, I don't require my clients to keep track of their gift certificates so going to an automated system would be very helpful for your clients and then I could email my friends gift certificates for their birthdays too. Aside from these technicalities, the actual massage with Colton was absolutely amazing. He is incredibly talented and as someone who has had massages all over the world, I was very impressed with his abilities. He is obviously very well trained and incredibly thoughtful and loved the deep tissue massage with him. The only advice I would give him is to make sure that he reads the clients birthdates as then he would know if they are treating themselves to a birthday gift or not. It's these little touches that really make a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a few years ago. First, had a very awkward, unpleasant massage. Then, after leaving my number with the owner to call me once a particular product in the gift shop came in, I found charges on my bank account a month later for the product. Apparently, without contacting me, she just went ahead and used my credit card which they apparently kept on file (I only went there the one time and did not authorize them to keep my card info). So, the owner used my bank account to purchase the product, then never called me to even tell me it arrived. And, again, I only expressed interest in being contacted once the product came in. Not being charged for it without my consent and then not even being notified. When my husband came in to discuss, he came home fuming at how he was treated. Then, in response to a review I left at the time on their Facebook profile, she replied publicly accusing my husband of physically threatening behavior ( which everyone we knew could have/ may have seen). What a total disgrace this lady is. Do yourself a favor and drive into town. Anywhere...
