Palms Beachwear — Attraction in Carolina Beach

They carry a lot of the brands that you often have to look for online; we live here, off-season, and have made purchases there many times. Two things that are lacking - Sizes -Often missing stock in standard sizes in shoes, shirts, etc in spite of the huge amount of stock variety. Hospitality- the mature woman behind the counter who is either the Owner or the manager (or both), 50-60ish, hair in a tight bun, is about as warm as a block of ice, almost to the point of insulting. The young people who work there are usually very nice, as they are allowed to be, but they all seem a bit scared of her, and always glance in her direction if you ask them more than a two word question. We take guests there when they want to shop for Hey Dude’s or OluKai’s, etc, but warn them in advance that it won’t...

This place is NOT traveler/tourist friendly. Our transmission died in front of this store. While waiting for the tow truck I asked to use the restroom. Was told they did not have public restrooms. I asked about using the employee restroom because it would be more than 30 minutes before the tow truck got there. Both employees said it was locked up and they had no key.....I asked what they did when they had to go and they both just stared at each other. This store sits out by itself without another public business very close by. This is on a very busy roadway, especially at 5 pm and I was not going to walk in heavy traffic 2 blocks just to pee! We have always taken our kids there to shop when in town....NEVER, repeat,...

This place does not have much of a variety of swim wear, and the prices are outrageous. From my experience today I would not recommend coming here for a last minute bikini. I bought a basic black bikini and spent upwards of $70. At least the employees were helpful and kind. This place is price gouging, as I saw the exact swim suit(same brand, size, and color) for $45 total at another store. I tried to return the unused swim suit with a receipt, but was told absolutely no returns, even though it had only been 30-45 minutes since I bought it. Save your money and time and literally go anywhere else...
