Nice skatepark, but the design makes it so only 1-2 people can SAFELY use the bowl at a time, which makes up ~40% of the entire skatepark. If there's a lot of people, there's a high risk of running into someone else the way it was designed. For the amount of space at the park, it should've had a more "open" design to fit more people with smaller street obstacles. Instead, the huge ramps/ledges all focus inward, which is a disaster for multiple skaters to use at once.
If you're planning to bring your kid here to learn to skateboard, I don't recommend it as this is a park for ADVANCED skaters due to the steep ledges and ramps.
There are no street obstacles here. Not even a practice low height flatbar.
Unless you already are an expert at skateboarding, there is no point in coming here. It is purely an X-games level transition park designed for professionals. Where are the skateparks that are for beginners? Clearly, not in this part...
Read moreNewer skate park in the Southern California coastal town of Carpinteria. It’s about two years old and still has the brand nee glow to it. It’s well kept and maintained. All free to use.
I’m not a boarder, so I can’t assess the technical difficulties and skate options. For a summer weekday, it was crowded with youngins. All having a blast. There are astroturf areas set next to the ramps while at a safe distance to not get run over. There are toilet facilities. Plenty of parking. The park is near the City Hall administration building which are also a few years old as well. Speaking about other things that are nearby within along distance … there is the Carpinteria Coastal Trail, nature preserve, seal rookery, and the beach....

Overall a horribly ran “skate camp” but...
