In my quest to have more transparent sourcing of my produce, I was led to Rincon tropics and I am never going back. There is a massive and beautiful selection of incredibly fragrant and intensely flavorful produce. You can smell the citrus through the box. I can’t say enough about the selection- it’s not everyday that a New Englander like gets to eat a cherimoya or finger lime that was grown in the US, and there are are multiple different selections of limes, lemons, tangerines, and clementines to satisfy any citrus lover. Nick is also incredibly friendly and very helpful on the customer service end- every question I have ever had has been quickly answered and Nick is very knowledgeable and passionate about his fruit. I had a GC from Mother’s Day for Rincon Tropics- my family knows that I adore passionfruit! I ordered a large box and it arrived yesterday. When I brought it inside, the exquisite aroma of the fruit filled my kitchen. Last night, my husband and I ate several— we like to scoop and eat- simple and amazing!! I had always thought that they need to wrinkle a bit before eating. However, on their website Rincon Tropics explains that they are delivered ripe and ready to eat—when the skin is smooth they are juicier- and they are more tart. All I can say is Wow!! First I read about Rincon Tropics in an article about passion fruit. That caused me to order their small mixed fruit box. I was initially disappointed cause there were so many oranges and I thought didn’t like oranges. But then I quickly came to realize once I started eating them how I loved them. And I didn’t like oranges because the oranges for sale here in NYC were generally just OK or bad. So now I know. This caused me to get a small box monthly subscription. But then I had to switch up to a large box subscription because my son also agreed that this fruit was amazing and more was definitely better.
