The Plaza theater here has been many things in the decades it has been in carpinteria, it used to be very run down and didn't have films till months after they have already been out. Then metro came in about 10 years ago and tried to renovate and bring in more people but it kind of flopped. But now it's a bit of a community theater that has many different types of plays and movies and everything and it's quite a nice set up now and they kept a lot of the renovations.

We had so much fun seeing the Doublewide Kings! They have done an amazing job updating this theatre! Check out some of their upcoming concerts and films!

This is a fun little venue. Very intimate. We went to a live performance there and it was more like a bistro feel. People got up in the middle of a song to go get food and bring it back in. Toward the end a few got on stage with the performer and danced politely, not a mob thing but very fun. The best part is the angle of the seating. It is steep enough to be able to see over people in front, even if...

I'm glad this theater is staying open to serve the community, but a staple of any movie theater is popcorn, and charging $5 for a handful is unethical when the cost to pop corn is cents in bulk. I understand the prerogative to make money in a small town theater, but the amount of popcorn delivered was disappointing. The entire community appreciates the varity of classic films and local events the...
