Public Storage — Attraction in Carrboro

The worst storage experience I’ve ever received… everything went wrong and the property manager was unresponsive. I am a college student at UNC and my friends and I rented this storage unit to store our stuff this summer. The unit was dirty and pretty musty, but we didn’t really think much of it. First out of all the things that went wrong: public storage doesn’t have locked in rates (at least that’ what I’ve been told) so they raised our rent from 12$ to 55$ dollars in the middle of summer! When we returned, we realized that a lot of our stuff grew mold… seemingly random and well stored objects like stationary, plastic shelves, and clothes. I had to throw out a lot of bedding, my fridge, and multiple shoes and clothes. We tried to call the property manager to schedule a move out and ask questions; we called over 10 times over the period of a couple of days, leaving voicemails with our information. It took them weeks to finally call us back. Finally, they kept on charging us rent even after we moved out and were unresponsive again!! We scheduled our move out for August with the help of the property manager. All the procedures were followed (we set the date on the app, told the manager when he finally called us back removed the lock after leaving…) and they still continued to charge us rent. We called them 10+ times again over the next week and we never got a call back. We were finally able to file a complaint with the main customer service line. We really had a terrible experience with this location, spent so much time and energy trying to work with customer service and cleaning out mold. I would not recommend this...

This is the BEST Storage Facility in the WORLD. I was in a bind and had to be out of my townhome in three days, not knowing where I was going to store my things. I saw an advertisement for $1 for the first month and then a low monthly fee, well naturally I thought this was some Bullshit advertising and so I decided to go into the office and inquiry. I have delt ith this particular storage facility before however it was not Public Storgae. Not only was the advertisement true, but Kim the young lady that works at the facility was so, so, so nice in helping me to make a Very Bad sisuation Very Good. I am very grateful that this facility has been brought out my such an Honest company and Kim is one of the Best Employees there. I will always be grateful to Public Storage and Kim for all the extended help that I was given in a time of need.

We contracted to rent a climate controlled storage unit to store furniture that we did not want to have exposed to humidity. We came to the unit multiple times only to discover that all the doors were propped wide open in the middle of August, exposing all the indoor units to the heat and humidity. Not exactly what we had in mind. When we raised the issue with the facility staff, they said that the units were indoor units, but not climate controlled. Even though the contract we signed clearly said "climate controlled" and the rate we were charged was the rate advertised for a climate controlled unit. We did not put our furniture in the unit and cancelled the rental. They charged us anyway for a months rental of a "climate controlled" unit which, according to the staff, they do not even have. Do not rent from this place. There are much better storage places...
