So I decided to check this place out. They're super close to where I live in the area; which is a plus!
Anyways, I got 2 hotdogs and a bag of chips. For that, I was charged nearly $25!! Ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, the food was excellent but not $25 excellent for lunch. I can get a gas station hotdog for a fraction of the cost and it taste just as good.
The service was kind and friendly. According to the lady behind the counter, these guys have been open since April. Yet, when you look around inside, they're whole shelves just empty, baskets in the front of the check-out area, empty. I get they may be "new", but why not have your act together and stock your shelves?
I've been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. Helped open alot of places, and I can tell you if you don't set your location up right from the start, it can affect consumer confidence. To me, it looked like the had just enough money to get started and then just stopped stocking the rest of their goods. It's supposed to be a deli right? So where's the fresh bread, the deli meat (there was only like 3 choices in their see-through cooler)??
Might be back, might not? If they're charging $25 for 2 hotdogs and chips...lord knows what they'll charge...
Read moreI have to admit that when I saw that a Delicatessen was opening in Carrboro, I wasn’t all that excited as a vegetarian. I’m glad to say that this place completely blew me out of the water.
They were serving their full menu plus brunch when we came in and both menus included vegetarian dishes, as well as dishes that could be modified to be vegetarian (and are marked as such on the menu). More importantly, the food was so tasty, especially the potato and onion pierogis. These are hot, crispy, and delicious little bites that come on top of a dressed salad, which was fresh and provided a really nice contrast to the warm pierogis. The side of elote that came with the dish was also quite good and to top things off, all the staff we interacted with were very nice.
Highly recommend checking this place out for brunch, lunch, or an early dinner, even as they continue to open their deli counter and figure out staffing/hours. They also have a pastries (and a little cafe) that look tasty, but I was too full to try them during our first visit. Looking forward to returning to this spot, so glad to have this place...
Read moreMy bestie and I stopped in yesterday for an early dinner. We are both huge Pierogi fans and they did not disappoint. We shared the potato onion and spinach feta, both served on a bed of greens, bacon, and dressing. It was lovely and the sides were just as great. We indulged in some potato salad and pasta salad. It was yummy and quickly served! They have a full bar as well so we each had a cocktail, although as bartenders, we noticed the pours were definitely less than the standard 1.5oz, but still about standard price for both a Jameson and Absolut. Other than that,...
