Cedar Falls Public Library — Attraction in Cedar Falls

Love the library! But I do need to leave a honest review. I'm not a huge fan of the fine free system unless it can be updated. I manage my library card online and I've noticed some inconsistencies. For example if I have an item that is past due it "blocks" my account from making any further new checkouts. However, even if I have one or two items that are past due the system allows me to renew other materials that I have checked out that aren't past due even if I'm blocked from new material checkouts. This system is flawed as it essentially allows individuals to hold items past due without fear of a blocked account as long as they already have their most prioritized items checked out. I think video games and digital materials need to be excluded from fine free. The online system allows users to see when materials are supposed to be due back by another user when they place a material hold and I have waited nearly a month or more for some past due items that I've had a hold on. I also know of some close relatives whom utilize a child's or a secondary library card under same address to check additional items out when one card is blocked with past due materials. The fine free process is NOT working for digital materials.

Caveat: account holds are also still active even when account is blocked. E.G you can have a blocked item that's past due and still initiate a new item hold. This is another flaw in the fine free system as you should be barred from all future holds...

My family loves Cedar Falls Public Library. They have a great children section my grandson loves to go there on movie nites and story telling time or just to play and meet new friends. They also have a great children books and dvds to check out . For myself I like that they are very friendly and the library is a very comfortable place to sit and read, or just sit and use the computers. Oh I can't forget about the DVD, CD, and Books selection. You can find your weekend enterainment there and save lots of money on you movie nights or your favorite book(s). For the family with teenagers (young youth) they have a section too.... Cedar Falls Library have somtime for eveyone...
