Long Story Short: I was fat shamed because I just wanted to try out the gym for the 3 day “free” trial and I didn’t want to pay $58 for a 2 month trial. If I could give them zero stars I would.
Long Story: So I am currently a Crunch member and because I have some extra cash, I wanted to see what 24 hour fitness had to offer. Nothing out of the norm to look for a better gym once you have a more financially stable income. So I convinced my two other siblings to join along with me. We agreed that we would do the three day “free” trial and if it was worth it we would cancel our Crunch gym membership and make the switch.
We go into the gym and are set up with a tour from Ernesto (worker). We take a survey before the tour and we start the tour. During the tour Ernesto asks basic questions about what our goals were blah blah blah. I tell him I want to be at a 20-23% body fat. He very uneducatedly pulls percentages out of his ass that don't make any sense. (RED FLAG NUMBER 1) He ends his speal about body fat percentage by saying “We can check the chart up front to get the percentages more clear” Following, the three of us are seated and he starts crunching out the numbers. He says “So for the monthly we can get you started off with a monthly fee of $38.xx and since you are bringing in two additional people their rates will be $25.xx.” I say, “That’s fine but right now we are paying at Crunch but feel that 24 has more to offer we are here to try it out for the three day “free” trial.” He looks at me and very condescending says “Remind me again why you are here?” staring at my body. (side note, im not in shape but I’ll admit I am a bit overweight but it’s nothing too serious, Just an average 5.9 195lb person). I respond with “Well from the survey and our conversation I’m here because I want to lose some weight and build muscle.” (RED FLAG NUMBER 2) He doesn’t say anything else and he follows it up with, “Let me see what I can do for you all and see what my boss says”. He goes to talk to a total of two people pretending as if a three day “free” trial is the END OF THE WORLD. He comes back and starts talking MAD salesman jargon “Well you see for you three today, only for this time, we can take out this fee, and that fee, and in total you will be paying $58 dollars for a 2 month trial”. (RED FLAG NUMBER 3) I say “Look I am not going to be paying two gym memberships. Your company website clearly says “Three day free trial”. I wanted to take that free trial without commitment so that maybe 24 hour fitness can win over our business. If the free trial that is advertised is too much of a bother than thats fine I’ll just keep my Crunch gym membership and leave.” He responded with 2018’s most terrible sale mans response “We’ll you can go ahead and do that…” (RED FLAG NUMBER 4) I got up and started laughing out loud because of the shear stupidity. One, I am telling you my situation and I am asking only what your company advertises. Two, I am bringing along two other people in a group to sign up for your gym. Three, you’re going to try to humiliate me to sign up? XD This place is a joke if it employees people like Ernesto.
Also he had the nerve to send a followup email with a “Guest Workout Pass”. To my surprise he signed me up and the other two people with guest workout passes. Funny thing is that they had no Guest Workout numbers attached to the email. Which leaves me to think that he finished signing us up to boost his sign up numbers without our consent. I don’t know what the purpose exactly of this is other than to boost some sign up numbers but Corporate should take a look at this. (Red Flag Number 5)

Read moreFront desk receptionist became discriminatory against me when it showed that I had a past due annual fee. Where I tried to explain that at 2:25 am I felt as though it was beyond unnecessary to deny me access when I was told I could speak to the manager later in the day after work. Where in the same light I was told I could maintain membership which was fully paid on time each month with auto payment.. she then gave me a very aggressive and condescending attitude as if she felt I could not or would not pay the mere 50$ fee. All I ask was for one day grace to speak with management. I even asked her to notate the account that We had that discussion. She then began to say that I was accosting her, verbally abusive, and or not listening to what she was saying. She then began to threaten to call security and police in which I felt my life was worth more then a petty arguement with someone who clearly has never had power before today. I immediately left but return with hands up (so I would seem aggressive) just to ask for managers business card. Where she hesitantly handed over. I left immediately thereafter. All in all, I understand she may have been just doing her job but the fact that she asked me “can you even pay the fee” -_- I work 60 hour weeks and make well enough. I’m on auto pay .. wow. (I did not respond to that. But those were my thoughts. ) then asking “you were notated once before two days ago.” Which in passing I was but I then asked to speak to a manager which was agreed but not notated. After failing at trying to calmly explain she began calling me a liar and gave me a stonewall attitude. Which I did not understand because I gave her space to speak and was very calm and respectful which I did not receive back. When I attempted to ask to just pay and speak to management later she began to then tell me no I am not allowed that I had to leave for talking back to her. As an adult I felt beyond disrespected as other members were walking by. I also felt very unsafe with how she began portraying me as an aggressor and feeling as though due to the fact I am a male and she was a female, that playing the victim would show in her favor and force me to leave. In which it did and being that I live 45 minutes away but come to this gym frequently, due to the proximity of work, it sadly upset me. I had to spend the 2 hours of time I would have spent in the gym and sat in my car after stretching and doing yoga outside because I had work later in the day. At this point it was sad that I had to receive such disrespectful and harrassing treatment and the forced to leave when that same energy was not reciprocated. I even during the arguement asked her why she was being so hostile. She then said no that’s you in a childish tone and said either listen or leave. I’m not asking for her to be fired or anything but serious customer service training is needed. Not all...

Getting my swoll on at the new 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport in Cerritos.
Brand new from the ground up, this location looks far & away sleeker & sexier than the Long Beach Super Sport I used to frequent, which was a former Sports Connection back in the late 90's. With this location now open, I can easily ride my bike to & from, burning even more calories & already having a warm up & cool down.
The machines are smooth like butta, aside from the deltoid fly I used. It had an unusual delay to it. It was great feeling the comfy padding as I pumped out dumbbell bench presses. Besides the usual free weights, there are TRX stations, rope pulls & other resistance exercises.
Cardio-wise, plenty of treadmills, stairclimbers, stationary & recumbent bikes, spinning, lateral & regular elliptical trainers present to get your sweat on. The one that caught my attention & which I enjoyed using was the Woodway Curve manual treadmill. Reminding me of the bottom half of a hamster wheel. the Woodway Curve states users can burn up to 30% more calories than traditional treadmills. And, I can testify to that! After only a few minutes, I began sweating like a politician before a Senate hearing.
For the ballers, there is a full size basketball court. My days of pick up bball games are over, but I occasionally practice my shot when the mood strikes. The multipurpose room has daily classes, such as Zumba & yoga. I hope to enroll in some to add variety to my workout.
A kids day care area is by the entrance for those that need their kids looked after while they get their burn on.
The one thing the Long Beach Super Sport has that's better than the Cerritos Super Sport is that Cerritos only has a three lane swimming pool, whereas LB has four. First thing I thought when I saw it? Damn, that's gonna be crowded come summer.
Parking is in a private lot at the Plaza 183 shopping center. The Cerritos Super Sport is located north of Nordstrom Rack. On 183rd St., enter by BJ's Brewhouse & proceed north. I believe there is also an entrance on north Studebaker, too.
Look better naked! The 24 Hour Fitness Cerritos Super Sport is a wonderful addition to my area, which I made sure to take advantage of when I could. Being so close means savings on gas & I could literally come everyday to get some type of exercise on. Or, maybe just hang out in the sauna & hot tub. Hey, those burn calories, too. Don't they?...
