We had a Luna Landing in Cerritos
Luna Grill, a fast casual Mediterranean restaurant, has established itself in the bustling Plaza 183 in Cerritos. Looking for a place to eat after doing some power shopping at the mall, I suggested we try Luna Grill, as opposed to one of our regular haunts.
Complimentary hummus- Can't so no to hummus! Although, I can abstain from pita. Luna Grill's hummus was smooth, creamy & wonderful. I would've preferred more brightness, but this is from a guy who prefers baba ghanoush, which Luna Grill doesn't have on the menu, unfortunately.
Ground sirloin platter- A skewer of seasoned ground sirloin, salad, pita, basmati rice & the either carrots or grilled tomato. I added a side of spicy hummus. A good sized portion which we shared, the ground sirloin was seasoned well and was juicy & tender. The salad had ample amounts of tomato, red onion & cucumber. I didn't care that much for the raspberry vinaigrette, preferring the tzasiki sauce to dip my salad into. The basmati rice was aromatic & fluffy. I finished each & every pillowy grain. The side of spicy hummus proved the perfect addition. I definitely prefer spicy over the mild.
Service was excellent! The friendly staff were ready to offer suggestions, and to check in to see if we were doing okay. Seating is via tables, booths & a long communal table in the middle. The inviting décor has chandeliers, a flatscreen TV & a warm atmosphere to dine in.
Parking is in private lot at Plaza 183, which can be hard to come by. Luna Grill is located left of The Habit & on the right of Blaze & Pier 76.
Another great eatery in Cerritos, Luna Grill offers fresh, real food that's not greasy or heavy. Prices are reasonable & the portions aren't meager, either. Top that off with hospitable service in an aesthetically pleasing environment, and Luna Grill has earned it's place on my restaurant rotation list.

Read moreAppetizer Sampler Platter ($10) includes four rounds of falafel, four stuffed grape leaves (dolmas), Israeli couscous medley, hummus, and pita bread that serves 3 to 4 people. It is a great representation of Mediterranean items whether you’re a newbie to Mediterranean cuisine or an avid fan. The spicy hummus has just the right amount of kick without being overly spicy. The couscous medley is flavorful and refreshing. The dolmas have an authentic flavor with the tangy grapes leaves and the tender rice inside. The falafels seem a bit too starchy for my taste but are flavorful and have a nice crispy outside. Rating: 4.5/5
Lamb Tenderloin Kabob ($13.50) is tender pieces of marinated grass-fed lamb served with house salad, basmati rice, pita bread, cucumber-yogurt dip, and your choice of carrots or grilled tomato garnish. The lamb is tender and herbaceous with no detectable gaminess. The basmati rice is also very flavorful. The carrots are tender without being mushy. The salad is a nice addition but could use more dressing. Rating: 4.2/5
Cornish Hen on the Bone ($13.50) is marinated pieces of tender Cornish hen skewered, grilled to perfection, and served with house salad, basmati rice, pita bread, cucumber-yogurt dip, and your choice of carrots or grilled tomato garnish. It is a whole hen cut into wings, breasts, thighs, and drumsticks. The Cornish hen is quite tender and juicy. The flavor profile is similar to tandoori chicken with lemon notes and the chargrill gives it a rich smoky flavor. Rating: 4.5/5
Mini Baklava ($1.50) and Mini Chocolate Nut Roll ($1.50) are some small dessert choices to end your meal with. They are mini, 2-3 bites a piece. The baklava is not too sweet with a sticky texture and buttery flavor. Rating: 3.3/5 The nut roll is light and airy with a nutty chocolate...
Read moreSo we thought we had found a good healthy food option to enjoy here but we don't think we're coming back anytime soon. Ate here this last Thursday and definitely got food poisoning. Could have been undercooked chicken, could have been cross contamination, who knows. I ordered the Santorini bowl like I had started to do quite typically and felt sick later that day, didn't eat anything else, was absolutely stuck moaning in bed or hugging the toilet all day Friday and only started to come out of it today (Saturday). I wouldn't normally jump the gun on it being food poisoning but we were also getting a discount by presenting a card we got on our previous visit for my husband being served nearly raw sushi. I know the saying is three strikes and you're out but I feel like two bad passes at care in the kitchen is enough for me to...
