Refresh Massage — Attraction in Chamblee

I visited the spa yesterday with my husband, and we both booked packages that included a massage and facial. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing for both of us. I did get a prompt appointment.

To start, I was given a male therapist while my husband was assigned a female therapist, which felt awkward. I had informed the female therapist (who spoke English) that I had inflammation and pain in my right arm and shoulder and asked that it be treated gently. However, this was clearly not communicated to the male therapist . The male therapist repeatedly worked on my painful shoulder and arm—despite my attempts to express discomfort , I explicitly tried to speak in between—and he still used mostly elbows with intense pressure throughout. Communication was an issue. For the longest time, no oil or lotion was used, and he kept on using dry touch and I didn’t receive a proper massage on the rest of my body. My back, legs, feet, and head were entirely neglected.

My husband had a similar experience and also complained that the therapist relied heavily on elbows rather than using a variety of relaxing massage techniques you'd expect. The professional knowledge and touch felt lacking.

The facial was also underwhelming. I paid extra hoping for more attention and massage, but the facial massage lasted less than five minutes.

We had high hopes for a relaxing experience, but left feeling uncomfortable and...

Oh. My. God. That was one of the absolute best spa experiences I have had in my life. And this includes high-end, super fancy spas.

I found out about Refresh on Reddit and I am so glad I did. I was looking to get a facial due to some excess oil and generally feeling yucky about my skin. The Unstress Facial was everything I needed and wanted and more. The room was quiet and cozy, had a nice towel to wrap myself in. So many layers of washing and moisturizing. And the extraction process was very satisfying and thorough. The technician even showed me what came out of my face which I absolutely love to be honest 😂 she was so sweet! The facial also included a head, shoulder, neck, and hand massage. Also some sort of moisturizing gloves for my hands! My skin is glowing and I feel incredible.

I also booked an hour long reflexology massage. The masseuse came to the facial room so I wouldn’t have to move which was quite thoughtful in my opinion. YALL. I was in and out of sleep, I was so relaxed. My feet have never known such attention.

All right, where do I start? I didn’t actually physically get a massage but I booked a massage and facial for my boyfriend for Father’s Day and at first I was seemingly impressed but then it was a lot of movement & noise from the staff members coming in and out of different rooms interrupting the session that’s supposed to be a relaxing moment. Seems very unorganized and poor communication between staff. I Literally had to get up and ask them what was going on because they had opened his door at least four times throughout the one hour & 40 min session on top then having a full on meeting or conversation right in front of his door… No mind you I’m not sure what his experience was like on the inside or if you can’t even hear them, but just sitting in the waiting area, I was a very unsettled. Staff member then proceeded to come out and grab a pillow from the waiting area to take in the massage room for I don’t know what reason but a decorative pillow shouldn’t be used as part of the massage. Please get a A little more organized/ structured and keep the element of tranquility in the...
