Neck, shoulder, shoulder blade, carpal tunnel, numb fingers
A year ago I started to feel everyday pain on my right side of my shoulder blade then it moved down to my shoulder which continued to move down my arm which caused pain in my wrist which led to numbness and tingling in my fingers (thumb, index, middle finger). As days went by the tingling and numbness in my finger worsened. I would wake up in the middle of the night and shake my hand and massage my wrist to feel relieve but of course that did not work. I started taking ibuprofen just to sleep during the night which it did help for awhile but then after a while ibuprofen did not work. The numbness and tingling was non stop 24 hours a day everyday.
I decided to go see a chiropractor and told him my situation and started treatment for months. I would notice the relief in my fingers for 2 days max then the numbness and tingling would reappear. As the months went by I decided to continue with the chiropractor but also try physical therapy. After a year I was told by the chiropractor that I would have to get an MRI and cat scan to figure out where I had a pinch nerve. I didn't get an MRI or cat scan due to him not being 100% and I would have to pay out of pocket. The pain was so bad that one day after the gym I told my husband I couldn't take the pain anymore. I remembered someone telling me if I have ever tried acupuncture for my pain. I remember looking at them and saying do you really think that would work. To be honest I was skeptical but willing to try anything at this point.
That's when I found Susanna Le at Southern Village. She was able to see me the same day I called and I couldn't be any happier. I gave her a run down of all that was going on and what the chiropractor and physical therapist told me as well as did to me. After looking at her notes she explained what she thought could be happening and what she was going to do to help me. I remember laughing a couple of seconds later due to the pain in my rotater cuff gone, I could't believe it. I was so happy I wanted to cry because the chiropractor had told me I would have that pain for the rest of my life.
In the beginning I would see Susanna Lea 2 times a week then it became once every 2 weeks. She also proscribed some herbs for the circulation which helped tremendously.
Today I'm able to get a goodnight rest and sleep through the night. The numbness and tingling in my fingers are gone. I'm able to use my right hand which I was not able to before. I have lost muscle but I know that I can train and in cooperate arms/shoulder/back is getting strong again.
Thank you Susanna Lea for what you have done and continue to do. You are definitely...
Read moreI have had a wonderful experience with SVA & H. I was in a very bad vehicle accident October 2014. It was a 5 car pileup where a big truck decided to run over me and 3 other vehicles. Just after the accident I felt paralyzed on my entire left side, but the feeling went away after a few minutes and then the majority of the pain was in the area of my left shoulder, arm and neck.
Nothing was broken but muscles and ligaments were badly damaged, torn, bruised and separated because of the impact. After a 6 1/2 hours of surgery the doctor's had put me back together.
Though after several months of recovery and then going to physical therapy twice a week for 8 or 9 months after surgery, the pain was still constant and mobility was limited.
I was referred to Dr. Lin by a friend. After just a few weeks of acupuncture treatment I notice a drastic change in mobility. Initially I could not raise my left arm level with my shoulder without help and excruciating pain. But with Dr. Lin's acupuncture treatment I was able to lift my arm up without any help but with "some" pain though not as severe as before.
After a few weeks more I was able to lift my arm over my head without any help and do any and every arm motion that I was able to do "before" the accident. Pain-wise before Dr. Lin's treatment was at least a "constant" 6 or 7 if 10 being the worst. Pain-wise after Dr. Lin's treatment is 0 to 2. Meaning sometimes I have no pain and then sometimes I do.
The logic behind acupuncture is that by virtue of the needles being strategically placed it stimulates healing in the affected or damaged areas.
I can attest to you by virtue of my experience that acupuncture really works, I have no reason to mislead or deceive you. I am completely satisfied with my results since coming for treatment at Southern Village Acupuncture and Herbology.
Dr. Lin is very kind, caring, and professional. I would recommend her without any...
Read moreFor past two years I have been suffering from Adrenal Fatigue. After being treated unsuccessfully by two other physicians and taking numerous supplements, I started seeing Dr. Lin in early February. Almost immediately I saw results but continued my twice weekly acupuncture treatments and daily regiment of Chinese herbs. I can happily report a huge difference and feeling stronger, much improved energy level and feel like I am finally getting my active life back.
I also have a family member who is being successfully treated "long distance" by Dr. Lin. Traveling to Chapel Hill for treatment was not an option. Dr. Lin sends her herbs and communicates on regular basis and makes adjustments when necessary. Remarkably, she is seeing signs of improvement and healing after only two months. Previously, six doctors were unable to diagnosis the problem and yet Dr. Lin was able to diagnose and treat with success.
I highly recommend Southern Village Acupuncture & Herbology and Dr. Lin. She is one of the most dedicated, caring, compassionate and knowledgeable healthcare providers I've ever encountered or been treated by. (And I am in 60's). Graduating from UNC with PhD in Pharmacology and then graduating from Traditional Chinese Medicine, enables her a unique perspective of both Eastern medicine and knowledge of Western medicine. Her ability to listen and then to mix a number of herbs (in my case 10 different kinds ) to formulate exactly what my body needs to heal, is a skill. She is very gifted in this area as well as doing her acupuncture. What a huge difference she has made in our lives in less than 3 months. I feel truly blessed to have found and continue to be...
