Sunday evening and the staff was overwhelmed and a manager was not on the floor. We sat inside and waited for approximately 15 MINUTES before someone came to greet our table and take a drink order. The drink order took a substantial amount of time to fulfill. The first 4 minutes are crucial for customers.
We obviously had children with us and the staff could see it. We scanned the menu as we were informed by the server but never informed there was a paper kid menu that is not online. One of our kids chose tomato soup. It wasn’t until 30 MINUTES later when they were plating the burger and grilled cheese for the other two children when the server came up to notify us that they were out of tomato soup. We assured our kid it was not a big deal and to choose something else. He picked Mac and cheese because the server said it would be a BOWL of home Mac and cheese. The server delivered the food about 15 MINUTES later and was fried Mac and cheese bites. As he was about to leave with the fired bites, I said drop the plate and fulfill my the correctly ordered Mac and cheese bowl but do not leave a hungry child without food because it your mistake. When they dropped the correct Mac and cheese our sever went to the table next to us who had already finished their burgers to tell the man that they were out of tomato soup!!!! The server already knew this! I was astonished that this poor guy had already been delivered his food and told after our table. This is when I realized this server needs training. He was kind and apologetic in this whole scenario but he needs to be trained by management. I can see management is not putting the proper care into their servers. They are the front line to keeping the cooks on track and bar staff on track. Put the time and energy into training waitstaff and you can have great reviews.
We typically order our kids food early in hopes that hungry children are happy. When our food finally came we had to get it togo as the time for children out had hit its threshold. I asked if the chips could be spicy or extra seasoned when I ordered and I was told they would have a great seasoning that the fries had... the chips had no seasoning and a burnt overfried taste.
I am disappointed in management tonight as we had hopes of having a nice meal out that we did not have to cook. Our kids were well behaved and we enjoyed being out but we did not enjoy our experience at The Brick. Management needs to be visible and attend to tables, bus tables, greet tables, run drink orders, refill waters, run food, and make sure that your servers are supported when they are in the weeds. Again, the server was kind and apologetic but I could see that management does not have the right training in place to support...
Read moreFun atmosphere, interesting table setup, no booths. Service is good. No complaints there. The salad was a good quality mesclun mix with fresh toppings. The fresh carrot slices were kind of thick, and not that appealing. The fried green tomatoes had a batter on them reminiscent of frozen onion rings in look and texture, but the flavor was very good, and it was like there was a sort of cream cheese in them. The ranch dip added a nice zing. I would order them again. I was really impressed with the hot wings that I had the first time I went here. The heat was flavorful but still very hot, like Texas-Pete-hot. But this time, I had the hot garlic wings and they were more like Frank's-Hot-Sauce-hot, making them not very hot at all. I couldn't really even tell they had any garlic flavor. My fiancé had the dry rub ranch wings. The seasoning seemed very salty,, but they still had a good ranch flavor. All of the wings were cooked through, but they were not falling off the bone this time. Just a couple of more minutes cook time would have made them perfect, I think. They serve the food on aluminum pans and stainless steel bowls. Apparently that's a trend, but to me those are cooking utensils. I guess I'm just old fashioned. I will definitely return to try...
Read moreLet me start by saying, I do not leave reviews. But my group was truly treated so poorly here. We moved tables to see the TV - had not seen our waitress in half an hour and asked another staff member if it was okay if we moved tables, were told yes. Our waitress was also rude for the majority of our interactions. We paid our tab and were charged for a drink we did not buy. We walked up to the payment stand near the front door (not the host stand, the manager is correct in the fact that there is no host stand. We were most definitely at the Brick in downtown Charleston.) and politely explained the situation, and were rudely assured we did order the drink. Eventually the drink was taken off of our tab, but we were refused any other service. They would not serve anyone else that was at our table, including a friend that sat with us for 15 minutes. I have never been refused service at a bar or been treated this way by a restaurant staff. We were not excessively intoxicated; this was beyond the point of denying service to a belligerently intoxicated group. Very disappointed in the way that we were treated here and will not...
