Myself and my girlfriend, flew from New York City to Charleston SC and stood at this Hyatt for her 36th Birthday. Overall the room was just fine. Nothing special or extravagant at this hotel besides a nice location. We only received room service one out of the three days we stand there. We even left a tip for the housekeeping on our last day. Upon retuning back from the trip, there was an unauthorized credit card charge on my credit card for $100.00. I immediately called the hotel for clarification. I was advised the charge was for property damage done to the room. I was transferred to a hotel manager Rasheka. She stated that floor to ceiling glass partition was destroyed and ripped from the wall. She said this was done to room 327. I explained to her we did not stay in that room and she then she changed the room number to 321. At which time I told her neither one of us would do such a thing. The room was left in perfect condition. Maybe the bed was undone but I’m sure that is common. The glass partition she speaks of would need three grown men to rip it from the wall. My girlfriend isnt a big person and wouldn’t be able to even remotely come close to ripping anything the size of this off the wall. I explain multiple times that there must be some type of mix up. She provides me with a photo of a fixed room and a glass partition missing and wood on the floor. There is absolutely no date, time or indication of when this photo was taken. If there were any damages done to the room, then why weren’t photos taken immediately upon arriving into the room. I asked when the photo was taken and Rasheka stated she didn’t know when the photo was taken, or who took the photo. She didn’t have much information. This call took place on Tuesday, September 3 and she would gather more information and call me back on Thursday, September 5. There was no follow up call on the 5th. I had to end up calling the Hyatt on Friday, September 6th. I then spoke to the head manager James Duggan. I explained the situation to him and explained that I would have never and did never damage the room. I supplied my own photo from the room that was taken 10 minutes before checkout and I provided the time stamp of the photo and thanks to IPhone it even provided the location. I sent this all to the manager via email while we were both on the phone. The manager then states I manipulated the photo. Now this manager states I manipulated my photo but how about that photo I was sent. This is unacceptable and speaks volumes about their integrity. There is absolutely no proof in the photo that was sent to me. There is no way in determining who took that photo, what room it was, and when it was taken. At this point I was being accused of lying. James Duggan tried to undermined me, tried to embarrass me, ridicule me over the phone. This is a manager speaking to a customer that stated at the hotel he works at. I was outraged of the treatment I received and immediately called Hyatt NorthAmerica Headquarters. I spoke to representative Katrina and let her know all that had been going on during the last few days. I told her at this point all I wanted was an apology from Mr. Duggan about the way I was spoken. I was told this matter would be handled appropriately and I would hear back from her or someone else. This has been over a week and I haven’t heard a word. This will be the last time I stay at a Hyatt or any other affiliated establishment. I will continue to voice my complaint, I will not allow this to be overlooked. I hope potential guests take note of the hotel's questionable practices and subpar conditions. Until they address these issues and treat their guests with respect, I would strongly advise against...

We stayed in Hyatt House for multiple nights in November 2024. They kind of seem hidden in a courtyard off King’s street. But it was nice and private and quieter. I will say that the hotel gave me the vibe of a 1960’s era hotel. I’m not saying it’s old, only like I was back in the 60’s. I hope that is supposed to be the idea? And it seemed like most of the employees could ever answer the simplest question involving the hotel. Our room had a glass barn door for the bathroom. It was opaque to give some privacy. But if you went in and turned on the light at night, you might as well had turned on the lights in the room. Plus we found the door to be somewhat difficult to use and latch. A normal door would have been much better, but would have taken up a little more room . The bathroom does seem like a more modern appearance. The shower has a towel shelf up high inside the shower for convenience. Although that made me notice the paint pealing on the shower ceiling. There is a small corner shelf down low for the ladies to shave their legs. There was a rack of shampoo and such also inside the shower a lot of inns are now replacing the little bottles with. But our shower seemed to only have lukewarm water. We had nice hot water in the sink. But just a couple of feet over was only not cold at best. Although we only ran the water for less than ten minutes. Maybe it would get warm after fifteen minutes or so before you shower. I guess water conservation isn’t a problem here. Although we finally had hot water on our final morning. Then there’s the toilet that probably came out of an elementary school because it’s soooooo low to the ground. But to be fair, the mirror is electric, so it never steamed up. Of course there was never any type of steam that would fog the mirror anyway. The temperature in the room seemed to vary drastically depending on where you were at the time. The outer part would coincide with the outside temperature quite a bit more. So our thermostat didn’t seem to match anywhere near the way most of the room felt. Our room was close to the elevators. But we heard little from the elevators. Although we heard quite a bit of loud voices looking for their rooms in the evening. Our rooms prices vary on the day and such. But with the price we paid, I expect a little better than this. Although that does include a breakfast. The breakfast itself wasn’t bad. It’s still basically a motel breakfast, but it is better than a lot of them we’ve been to over the years. It had a few hot options. Cereals, fruit, waffles and toast/bagels are also the norm. The coffee was not bad also. Afternoon and evening there is the option of the Pour Taproom. It is a nice rooftop tavern that also serves a limited menu of food options. The is a bus stop right in front of the hotel on King st. You can jump on this one of the three free bus loops that run around the area. All three loops go to the visitor center (which in itself is about a ten minute walk from the hotel). So you can basically get around most of the area without a lot of walking or having to pay extra for. But the loops do have limitations. So you may have to have to use alternative buses and such to get to attractions outside the historic district. Although a lot of tour series and such can help with that. The visitors center is great for things like that as well. Whether or not it’s worth the price for Hyatt House, is subjective to peoples opinions. Hyatt House had a lot of pluses. But it also had quite a few negatives. I am giving them four stars because they are not as bad as I might have made it sound. But it also was not as good as...

I can't remember the last time I had so many issues with a hotel and its policies as they are related to COVID. Looking at other hotels in the area I am sure their guests are being better taken care of AS WELL AS following all CDC guidelines and recommendations. I will start off with the 2 positive points.....location and price. Price, I guess you get what you pay for so maybe my expectations shouldn't be so high but when it comes to customer service, it shouldn't matter if you are getting a discount rate or paying top-dollar. The location is "upper King St." so you may have quite the walk to locations near the market or E. Bay St. as well as other locations more centrally located in the French Quarter or Historic district. Luckily, there are plenty of Lyft, pedi-cab, or local taxis to choose from but depending on the weather, which was pretty good for late December, sometimes a nice, long walk is warranted.

Park in the garage that is on-site. Your wallet and sanity will thank you. We used the valet the first day but when we had to use our car the next day, there was no valet to be found (Sunday at 3pm) and I had to go to the front desk to get my keys. Then I had to go and get my car but still was charged the entire $36....I did leave myself a good tip, though.

When we got to our room, there were no shower towels. Plenty of bath mat and wash cloths but no shower towels. An oversight I am sure but just a prelude to the comedy of errors that were about to happen. Tried to use the room phone to call the front desk, but the phone was broken. When I reached the front desk it was a mere 30 minutes before we received the towels. When more issues were discovered with the room, the staff at the front desk "said" they would be taken care of but the issues remained. The coffee maker was broken, the hair dryer did not work (they did bring us a replacement), the TV had some sort of light show coming from the background, the remote didn't work properly, and the dishwasher packet was torn and when we pulled it out of the box, the powder went all over the floor. After 2 days of being in that room and nothing being done about the issues, we were moved to a different room. The only issues there were that there was no hair dryer at all, no lamp in the bedroom, no baseboard around the bedroom area, and no chair in the kitchen area.

One final surprise I was given was a surprise "hold" of $50/night which NOONE told me about. This is what irritates me. If you are going to place a hold on my card that is immediately reflected on my account, why does it take 2 or 3 business days to take it off the hold? And why did nobody explain to me that I was going to have the hold placed? They already had my card for incidentals so I don't understand why they needed an additional hold. Price and location were good but we had to put up with a lot of inconveniences and annoyances here that we would not have had to deal with at other hotels. I don't recommend this place nor do I think we will be staying here again. Furthermore, I do not...
