Life affords all of us the opportunity to be or not to be, the will to make a choice, the chance to be nothing. We open a door and walk through it or we don’t.
When I walked through the door of the Laura DiNello Gallery I entered Eden. In every direction I was taunted, teased and tempted. I was blind, seeing for the first time. I was utterly amazed. Here was a woman who had done something truly beautiful with her life.
It is hard to describe what takes place when the mind and emotions are suddenly surprised and moved by beauty. Time continues but space somehow augments our effort to be sated by the insatiable.
I was overwhelmed by the originality, quality and quantity of Ms DiNello’s work. Canvases covering anything and everything. From mosaics as large as walls to boutique pieces tucked away in corners and under cupboards.
The Laura DiNello gallery is a marketplace of humanity, a Tower of Babel, lands of lascivious color. It’s an avenue where the ethereal and sensual walk arm in arm with the bawdy and banal. Where elegance hangs off the walls, loitering as if with nothing else better to do. The gallery is NYC, Paris, Shanghai, Cairo. It is the entire world and every tiny town. It’s a Venus flytrap that sticks its tongue out, traps and holds you hostage until it slowly kills you with what you dare not live without.
What I found in the Laura DiNello Gallery is an entirely new wardrobe that Beauty wears and the woman who dares to dress her.
