Yesterday my daughter and I were headed back to our hotel after a full day of adventures in Charleston. We were chastising ourselves for only visiting two galleries and grudgingly deciding we stop in one more when you saw the “We are SO open” sign. There were other messages outside the gallery that vibed “Come on in for a visit” so we hesitantly opened the door. Much to our delight, it was not another tomb like space inhabited by a silent guardian staring at a computer screen, but we were greeted by a bubbly young woman named Curry who immediately engaged with us. We chatted about stuff, and she encouraged us to explore all we wanted. No snobbery, no pretense, no feeling like “if you have to ask the price clearly you should not be here.” The art was accessible, interesting and diverse. Not being “art people”, we wandered around making comments to each other when a cool guy (another visitor I first thought) started pointing out some of the pieces and why he thought they were so awesome. Right to the punch line, that cool guy was Robert Lange! He never told us who he was but he didn’t hide it. Anyway, we had a blast looking that the different artists’ perspectives, gazing into the ball, building a rock sculpture, checking out the wall banana and the bullet rhino, and then finally connecting that the cool guy was Robert, the artist who painted quirky animals with the kindest eyes. Everything about the experience was fun, relaxed, welcoming, and wonder-full! My daughter, who is 31, told me that she hopes to be able to start buying original art sometime soon, and now she knows the first place she will visit. We love you, Robert and friends, and hope to see you again. Keep up the...

The gallery itself is housed in a charming historic warehouse with original brick walls and wooden floors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The passion and dedication of the owners, Robert and Megan Lange, are evident in every corner of the space. They have curated a collection of contemporary paintings that are not only visually stunning but also emotionally resonant.
