My wife and I have been to over 300 breweries in the USA, and we were so impressed with the hospitality, personal touches, and overall quality of the products (beer, t-shirts, glassware) at this specific brewery in the USVI. The footprint of this brewery is compact (but perfectly quaint), and the day we visited was a brew day for the owners/brewers. As the space is used for both the taproom and brewing operation, we were taken into a beautiful home-like kitchen through a secret door from the brewery. In there, one of the owners (Terri) treated us to a sampling of four of the Frenchtown Brewing beer selections as well as thorough descriptions and discussions of each beer offering. My wife and I were delighted with the beer quality and both ordered additional full pint-sized pours of our favorites. (We selected the brown ale and pale ale.) I purchased a t-shirt which I will proudly wear around Wisconsin (including at my favorite hometown brewery, McFleshman’s) where I’ll be sure to tell everyone about my wonderful experience...
Read moreThis is possibly the most intimate and fun experience I've had at a brewery. Visited while on a work trip, and I'm glad I made it while they were in their Frenchtown location (but looking forward to seeing the new digs at Bluebeard's Castle when they open).
Spent at least an hour talking with one of the owners (and head brewer) about the chemistry of his beer-- including of all things the ion content of the water he uses-- which was both eye opening and fascinating. The beer was great, and even discovered some regional connections. I look forward to another visit when I'm back on the island again in a few months.
In its original location in Frenchtown it's a smaller place with limited seating, so definitely recommend calling ahead just to be sure they're open. Can be a little hard to find the front door, but the visit-- the beer, and the conversation-- is totally worth any minor confusion (just ask downstairs if...
Read moreFrenchtown Brewery is great. This is a Husband/Wife Nano-brewery which means maybe four beers at one time but they cover the spread of styles. Terri was our host while there and she was a sweetheart. She told us their story and the Beers they make. She even gave us some tips for going into the heart of Charlotte Amalie. Frenchtown is on the edge and on the second floor of a shared building. Follow the signs. Being a small brewery Kevin the brewmaster doesn’t produce beers he crafts them and they are excellent. Take it from a home brewer, this is a must try location when on St. Thomas. We had the Saison, IPA and a brown ale. All had complex but delicious flavors. Do yourself a favor and visit Frenchtown Brewery. You won’t be...
