I had one of the most unprofessional experiences at this restaurant. The total bill was $192, and since their Wi-Fi was down, we could not pay with a card. We had $165 in cash, which we paid toward the bill. The remainder was only the automatic gratuity they added; in other words, we fully paid for our meal, just not the gratuity.
From the start, the service was already unpleasant. Our server was not welcoming, carried a serious face the entire time, and brought such low vibrational energy to the table; we did not mind because the food was amazing and we really enjoyed.
When it came time to pay, the server told us there’s no WiFi and she didn’t know when the Wi-Fi would come back on. We waited at the table for couple minutes hoping the system would start working again, but we eventually had to leave. At that point, we scraped together all the cash we had just to cover the bill as best as we could.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager (who struggled to communicate clearly) told us we had to either leave our credit card number with them or let them take a picture of the card. That is completely unsafe and unacceptable. At no point did anyone inform us at the start that their Wi-Fi was down and that it was cash only. Had we known, we would have made other arrangements before dining. Adding, the manager is telling us we can sue the company if anything happened to our credit card as if that’s suppose to make the situation any better, even if that’s the case I would never leave my card information in picture form or paper form to any establishment.
On top of that, they tried to make it seem like we were “stealing,” when in fact we paid the actual bill. The server told us to use the ATM downstairs which would charge us extra fees just so we could cover their gratuity policy. How is it the customer’s fault that the restaurant’s internet is down?
This whole approach was unprofessional and left us feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Restaurants should never ask to take pictures of guests’ personal credit cards, and they should be upfront about payment issues before seating people. Very disappointing...
Read moreThere is a difference between "Island time" and just plain terrible customer service. We had 90 minutes before we had to return our rental car and head to the airport on a Saturday morning. When we arrived there were maybe 6 other tables full and over half the restaurant was empty. The host was super nice and attentive, that is the only credit they get. After being sat it took 17 minutes to even get a hello and place a drink order. We probably should have just left at that point. But we ordered breakfast. After 75 minutes we still had not received our breakfast, 2 omelets and some eggs. We asked if it would be soon and she told us no, there's still more tables in front of us. So apparently they can only make 1 table at a time in the kitchen - wow super efficient.
At 85 minutes and still no breakfast we had to leave or risk being charged late fees for our rental car. The server CHARGED ME FOR MY FOOD. The Food that I DIDN'T GET. $55 for absolutely nothing except a trashy tasting hibiscus mimosa that tasted more like $3 airplane rose. I couldn't even stand it so I just paid and made sure to leave a big 0 in the tip section to be clear.
While we were there, 3 other tables got up and left because they sat so long without any service. I guess we should have taken the hint initially and left. After the most delightful week on both islands with nothing but impeccable service from every restaurant I went to, I couldn't believe that this is my last memory of a perfect vacation. If you go there make sure you have a minimum of 5 hours for breakfast or leave if you haven't been helped within the first 15 minutes.
If the server had been even remotely attentive or kind it would have been different. But she was the rudest person with a...

The lady and I came down to St. Thomas as part of a travel group, but we ventured out on our own for food. After a dissatisfactory and expensive experience at the Greenhouse Restaurant and Bar, we decided to head east and see if things got any better in that direction.
It absolutely did...!
The first time around the lady had a simple cheeseburger and fries, but I had opted for the conch with butter sauce, some kind of yellow rice and vegetables.
Both meals were tasty, although I could've gone for slightly larger portions and I have a sense that the conch would be both more tasty and more satisfying in the hands of a more capable chef-this is not to say it was bad at all.
The second time around we had some salmon (lox) omelets with some of their passion fruit juice to get the day started right.
I think you'd be quite happy with them versus some of the other nearby venues and since you'll be sitting quite literally on the water you will also enjoy some rather splendid views of the water while a cool breeze keeps your...
