My mom and I decided to watch Jordan's Journal on Christmas Day at this theater. The main reason for picking this theater is because it is the closest AMC to my parents home. I wanted to go to an AMC because I had pre- purchase tickets that I originally purchased at Costco.
This theater is located in a shopping plaza that includes The Shake Shack. The parking is shared with the other businesses in the plaza. I imagine that if the other stores in the plaza were open it may be a little. Challenging to find parking.
Walking into the theater the concession stand which also serves as the ticket stand is located a few steps from the entrance. My mother had to purchase a mask as masks are required for entry. The mask cost her about $1.60. After she purchased a mask I asked to purchased our tickets for the show. A seating chart appeared on the screen and we were instructed to pick our seats. When I tell you the theater is tiny! It is likely the smallest theater I have ever been in. There were only 4 rows to pick from!!! After picking out seats I handed the staff my tickets. He was clueless as to what to do with them. Another female staff came over and attempted to help. She then told me that since the ticket was so worn she could not use it! I am like ok, well what is the solution to the problem. She just repeated herself. I then asked if there was a manager I could speak with. She had such an attitude! I don't understand her frustration with me wanting to use something that I paid for!!! After a few minutes the manager, Adam came out. Adam explained that since they could not scan the ticket he would replace them with new ones that can be scanned. Simple solution!!!
The reason for the reduced score is due to the staff being rude. I witnessed the staff interact with other patrons and I was not impressed. Also, the staff honestly looked as if they just rolled out of bed and came to work. What happened to uniforms at the movie theater? Did they get a wear tie pajamas to work day because it is a holiday?
Regarding the theater, it was clean and I loved the comfy chairs. They recline and are heated! After the show a staff came on and announced " take your trash with you when you leave"! This was another first for me in a theater!
If given a choice, I would not return to this theater. I am certain that there are better experiences...
Read moreAlthough comfortable with upgraded reclining seats, we find that the staff can barely muster the energy to say “Hello” and our dealings with them are, for the most part, not verbal in nature. Questions are ignored and it’s obvious that they’d be better off in a position that doesn’t have customer interaction. The only exception is the pleasant woman who is always there scanning tickets at the theater entranceway. She is quite pleasant and always has a smile on her face.
We’ve lived in Charlotte for three years and have regularly attended this theater due to its close proximity and comfortable seating. We’ve noticed, recently, that the clientele that this multi-plex attracts is less than desirable and can be rude…to put it nicely. Talking and cell phone texting/scrolling is out of control and goes unmonitored by theater staff. Whatever happened to common courtesy? I have had to approach strangers to ask them to put away their phones, not something I want (or should need) to do in the middle of a cinematic experience.
Needless to say, we’ve decided to forgo this theater henceforth and will only attend Charlotte’s only independent movie theater from now on. Although the drive is further, and the seats do not recline, the overall ambiance and quality of both employees and moviegoers are an entirely different class.
One star for cleanliness. One star for the kind woman who scans tickets. Zero stars for the concession counter and...
Read moreThis place is absolutely atrocious. From the moment we walked in the door, it was nothing but a disappointment. We walked in to a mostly empty lobby and proceeded to pick out some candy in the non AMC premier customer line. That candy rack was completely ravaged, so we walked around to the premiere side of the line to look for a better selection. We quickly picked our candy selection and turned around to check out. The cashier asked for our premiere rewards card, which we replied with a simple, we don’t have a rewards card, we aren’t members. He proceeded to question us as to why we were in the wrong line and tried to accuse us of skipping the line (by line he meant the one other couple waiting in line behind us as we quickly picked our candy from the other side of the rack and waited for someone to come to the counter to ring us up). If the candy rack was properly stocked, we wouldn’t have had to walk 2 feet around to the other side of the rack to find the candy we wanted. He proceed to ring us up and then walked away while I was paying to talk to his friend. He didn’t even bother to hand us our drink cup. I had to ask another employee who was just as clueless. The theater and bathrooms are filthy and by no surprise my recliner chair didn’t work. We left on a real high note, as the theater was like a hot box that reeked of pot. Don’t waste your time and money...
