Without a doubt, this rock climbing gym sets the gold standard. The diversity in climbing routes, ranging from beginner-friendly to those that challenge even the most seasoned climbers, is incredibly impressive. Safety is paramount here - the gear and equipment are top-notch, and the staff (shout out to Rain) are highly trained and always ready to assist. In fact, the staff's friendly and supportive demeanor is one of the highlights of the gym. They foster a vibrant community and a warm, inclusive environment, making you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in.
The cleanliness and spaciousness of the gym also deserve a special mention. The facility never feels crowded, even during peak hours. Add to that the great music, clean restrooms, and ample locker space, and it's clear that no detail is overlooked.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited Philadelphia Rock Gyms - Wyncote, and while it was an overall fine experience, there were a few things that stood out, especially based on feedback from my more seasoned rock-climber friends.
Firstly, my friends, who are avid climbers, weren't overly impressed with the gym. One thing they pointed out was the rental shoes, which apparently aren't the best for more complex climbs. So, if you're looking to tackle more challenging routes, the shoes might hold you back.
The gym uses taped routes which caused some confusion for us at times. It wasn't always clear which path to follow, and this added a layer of frustration to the climb. Another thing my friends mentioned was that some of the routes had pieces that were heavily chalked up, meaning that they weren't cleaned or updated frequently.
From my perspective as someone new to climbing, the experience was decent. However, for more serious climbers, there might be better gyms out there that offer clearer routes and more well-maintained equipment.
All in all, it's not a bad spot, but it could benefit from some improvements in terms of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChallenging and fun. This gym is great as a group team building outing or a solo hobby pursuit. I came here on an Intro to Climbing package and I ended up getting a membership because I loved it so much. Your two week trial allows you to visit and get a quick lesson on bouldering and top rope (two separate days) for $45. If you sign up for a monthly membership that same day, the $45 goes towards your first month of climbing and you get rental equipment. The wall grips change once a month, which keeps it fresh and challenging. I canāt wait to take some of their climbing classes on hand and foot placement for bouldering. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. The staff even wished me a happy birthday twice when I came in the day before and the day after my birthday when I checked in. Every single one of the staff members are always willing to answer questions and help. If you are thinking of trying this and are on the fence, just do it! I absolutely love this gym and I know you will too....
