A show at the Keswick had me researching for a GOOD restaurant before showtime. This time I hit a homerun, it won't take a show to bring me back, most likely next week. Anytime I want Italian, this will be my go to, and that was BEFORE I knew they offered their own home made wine. This review should tell it all but there's more. I've been looking for an Italian "family" restaurant and this is it! The appetizers, best bruschetta I've ever had AND as I often request, I'm looking for San Francisco style calamari. I've yet to find it east of SF, now I have! Tender like it was just delivered from the ocean and fried to perfection. Did I mention wine? TreVi is listed as a BYOB and I brought my bottle from my other "family", offer their own wine restaurant, located in the Midwest. When I learned TreVi now offers their own wine I couldn't resist. The wine list blew me away with the selection, hope it's all of the same caliber as what I purchased because it was a home run! Now if I could only talk them into having periodic case specials like my other go to family Italian restaurant, TreVi would then be my at home table wine. Probably PA rules prevent it, too bad. Next, did I mention our waitress was superb? She didn't miss a beat, never were we without her attention, perfect AND we've yet to be served our entree's and when they came it was as if direct from the kitchen. Entree's...Linguine & Clams, the best, plenty of tender littleneck clams, tasty linguine boiled to perfection with a taste of the sea butter, garlic, wine sauce. My companions had Shrimp Scampi, lots of shrimp, delicious white wine lemon butter sauce. BTW, her comment was "The best Italian restaurant she's ever been too". That's quite a statement, knowing she's been to many. My other guest choose Grandma's Sunday gravy gnocchi, blown away excellent, need she say more. Now, dessert, we were satisfied beyond belief and as always wanted to pass on dessert to give care to our waistlines but with all that's been so perfect how could you pass on the piece de resistance at an Italian restaurant...cannoli? When we were told it is served in two's we couldn't pass it up and like everything else it did not disappoint. I'll wrap up with these parting comments, to celebrate Christmas we make Scoma's of San Francisco Cioppino. This cioppino recipe is my baseline reference for cioppino and much to my surprise TreVi offers their Classico Cioppino which according to their description sounds very close to Scoma's, TreVi is only missing the Dungeness crab! I will order it in the future, I know I won't be disappointed. Second, I am a faithful Bolognese fan, sorry to say it's not a common menu item. Not to worry anymore TreVi offers their Bolognese! With that I want to also mention that the menu is all Italian, if TreVi doesn't offer an item you're looking for, no problem, I'll guarantee any alternate selection won't leave you wishing. Comment to the owners and staff...Wonderful, everything, food, service, atmosphere. music (a little Frank Sinatra wouldn't distract). Thank you for a very...
Read moreThe food was good, although I was not able to eat it while in the restaurant. I had to eat it out of a box several hours later because of how unbelievably long it took. We had a 6:30 reservation, party of three, we arrived five minutes early. We also had tickets to a show across the street at 8:00. It took around 20 minutes to be seated despite our reservation, and then what felt like probably 15 additional minutes before our orders were taken. That is when the real waiting began. We kept peaking at our phones, checking the time.. 7:15. 7:30. 7:50. Mind you, nobody apologized for the wait or came to check in until probably after it was already 7:30. Eventually, with 10 minutes until our show began (we'd hoped to be able to get there 15 minutes early), we asked if they could please just put our food in boxes so that we could leave as quickly as possible at which point the server claimed that the food would have been ready more quickly had we let her know there were time constraints. Basically, blaming us. Then, incredibly, she brought the food out on plates, and then, she said "I'll be right back with a box for that," at which point I had to hand the plate to her and ask her to put it in a box like I'd requested.
TLDR: Food is good, but the service is incredibly slow. We had a 6:30 reservation and tickets for a show @ 8 across the street and we had to leave with our food in boxes not having taken a single...
Read moreOver priced and not worth the hype! Served warm water in a carafe that was left on the table, I did ask for a cup of ice but never received it. My husband ordered the crab cakes as the waitress took the order she asked “what would you like for your side” and listed a few choices. My husband said garlic fingerling potatoes, we were absolutely gobsmacked when we saw that we were charged $7.50 for the potatoes that were over seasoned with garlic and parmesan cheese!! The waitress absolutely made it sound like choices for the $22 order for 2 crab cakes!!! It was extremely warm inside the had portable standing fans circulating warm air, it felt like no one cared about anything. We started off sharing the fried calamari, I asked for a bit more tartar sauce, when I finally received it, it was served in a small shot glass. When I received the check there was an extra charge for *Sauce $1.50!!! We travel and eat out regularly, I NEVER have been charged for a bit more for a sauce. It took 68 minutes for a Caesar salad with anchovies and an order of crab cakes to arrive at our table. There was absolutely NO Presentation for the food! The toilet in the women’s bathroom didn’t seem to be working properly. Overall it’s certainly not a restaurant worth repeating as I wish I stayed home and saved myself $85!! TREVI in Glenside PA is definitely...
