Stopped in for what I thought was going to be a great brunch with one of my girlfriends, who drove all the way from PA as we had a delicious meal there in the past. However, this time everything from start to finish was awful. First, we arrived at 12:00pm on a Tuesday afternoon. After looking over the menu and ready to order, our server informed us they did not have chicken (for the chicken and waffles) nor did they have any fish (for the fish and grits). So, we were like hmmm okay at 12:00. But okay we are flexible. So, we proceeded to order other items. I opted for an omelette which came with home fries and I added a side of pork sausage (which in the past were sausage links). My girlfriend reluctantly ordered pancakes, egg whites with spinach and cheese and a side of turkey sausage and a glass of water with LEMON. Well, the server brought out a glass of water with lime (they didn't have lemon). She should have told us that instead of just assuming giving us limes would be acceptable. Then my girlfriend's egg whites were running off the plate literally. Not cooked at all. Her pancakes were dry and OMG the so called turkey sausage were just handmade mini seasoned ground turkey burger patties (like we were not going to know). Now as for my food, my home fries were burned, but my omelette was edible. And so, we were just gonna push through, but when my so called sausage patties came out, they looked like two patties you would feed your dog and were hard as a rock. I said now you really just playing in my face. IKYFL!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! This was the last straw and totally disrespectful and unacceptable. Everybody should be ashamed from the owner/management for not having enough food to start the day to hiring a chef that would put that kind of food on a plate; the chef, who should know better; and the server, who should have said no I'm not giving my table that trash. Someone, any one of them should have just said no. This is not acceptable! We ended up just getting up and walking out and went to the Cheesecake Factory. Shameful!!!! Never again! Do better! You are building multiple locations based on reputation and today was a total disaster. I wouldn't even give you one star. There are supermarkets, produce junctions and a restaurant depo nearby open at 12:00 in the afternoon where you could just buy lemons, a 40lb box of chicken and fish to get you through the morning. That’s what you call pivoting when your truck does not come in on time. Instead you opted to put trash on the plates of repeat customers and insult our intelligence. We really tried to give you a pass even though it was not deserved. Never again! My girlfriend posted the pics of the dog food you...
Read moreMy wife and I thought we were going to Brunchaholics, a place we have eaten before and absolutely loved, but this was no longer Brunchaholics even though they left the sign up on top of the building as well as on the sides of the building. When we pulled up we were confused to see the Brunchaholics signs everywhere but on the doors and inside the building were window clings and signs marked Sunrise Social. We went in hoping this was still in some way Brunchaholics, an extremely friendly and inviting place with incredible food but we were yelled at from across the dining area to pick a seat and things went downhill from there. The first table we sat at was a booth and my bench seat immediately fell forward smashing my chest up against the table. Apparently the seat we picked was missing the front left leg. The second booth we picked was fine but when the waitress/hostess came to take our order she acted cold towards us, even when my wife tried to ask her what she recommended and tried to joke with her. Ok no problem, maybe she was just having a bad day and we'll give her the benefit of the doubt. There were only 3 other tables in the whole place that had customers which was strange as we were used to it being packed every time we had come there when it was Brunchaholice. We ordered our food, my wife got the breakfast special (eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes and bacon) and I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. It was frustrating to see customers who arrived after us eating long before our food arrived but finally our food came and we were disappointed. I've ordered chicken and waffles many times at many restaurants over the years but I have never seen it served as 2 waffles and 4 chicken wings. Had I known they were serving wings, instead of the chicken breast I have always been served everywhere else, I would have ordered something else. There was very little meat on the wings, as you would imagine, and what's worse is it cost 25.99. My wife ate her potatoes, and they were very good, but the bacon looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp and the eggs and pancakes were mediocre. The nail in the coffin was when we got the bill for our 2 breakfasts and it was $75, I was starting to figure out the tip, because I've worked jobs that relied on tips so no matter how bad the service, or food is, I always leave a good tip but my wife stopped me and told me they had already charged us the tip and when I looked, sure enough there was a charge for a mandatory 20% gratuity on the bill. We will never eat at Sunrise...
Read moreReally wanted to love it here. The service wasn’t the best. Something we didn’t know in advance was that in order to get a table you need a reservation, but they have a communal-style high top table for non-reservations. That was fine but could see it being a little too close to other people if every seat were full.
I ordered a hot coffee and was told it would be a wait - they were still brewing coffee and there was a table ahead of us who ordered. They did end up sneaking me a cup quickly which was great service. We ordered pretty quickly. I ordered my eggs over medium and my husband got chicken & waffles. The food took a really long time to come out. My eggs were still raw gloopy egg whites. I loathe sending food back but it didn’t feel safe to eat. We did let the waiter know and he graciously brought me a new plate - he didn’t have to do all that, I was just expecting a new side of eggs. So that was lovely. However - the new eggs were better, but not quite all the way to “over medium.” The French toast was great, different than your usual French toast. It was like 1/4 of a loaf of brioche, not sliced, but made into French toast with a delicious vanilla butter. My husband’s chicken and waffles was great, but different. The chicken was all wing flats. They were very good - big wings, juicy, crisp, well seasoned. Excellent stand alone wings. But they were a little odd to eat with waffles though - you couldn’t really get both chicken & waffles in one bite. We did have to verbally flag our waiter down 3 times during our visit, too. He was nice but maybe just a little busy. Also we noticed these cool mimosas towers people were getting but they were not on our menu, which stinks because I would have totally tried it!
I will say, the portions were generous and made the prices worth it. But I think they just need to work on wait staff attentiveness, food timing, and nail down the basics like coffee and eggs.
We in no way had a “bad” experience. It’s just that dining out is pricey, our check was $60 with tip just for 2 menu items & coffee/juice. So when you go out you want it to hit every...
