I'm starving and it's cold on a Friday afternoon in Cherry Hill. I saw the sign for a new restaurant (after looking online I guess it's not that new). This place is new to me!
The first thing that hit me about this place was how clean everything was. Not a spot could be seen. I came in around 1 so admittedly late for lunch for me. I approached the counter and a very nice woman greeted me. I quickly figured out what I wanted and started to order when I found out that they had sold out of it! I must have good taste. Then the woman at the counter politely asked if I wanted another item because it was pretty similar. I agreed and got the spicy pork noodles. I also ordered pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings.
I sat at a table with my coworker and waited for a relatively short period of time until our food came out. It was very cute and underneath all the toppings are some very bomb noodles. Little did I know that this is exactly what I wanted this afternoon. The noodles were bouncy and thick and after a bit of stirring, covered in the sauces. My dumplings also came out a very cute pink color. The dumplings were good and the sauces they came with were delicious. The bottom of the dumpling was a bit thicker but honestly... I loved it.
The noodles were hot and spicy and savory and when mixed with all the toppings were amazing slurped. I finished my entire bowl and was full. I think this is a perfect takeout or sit and wait spot. I think in the future when I'm not starving I would let my noodles sit a bit in the sauce to really get the flavors married.
All in all. This is a welcome addition to Cherry Hill in my book. I will come back again and it will be the restaurant I tell folks to visit now. Thanks...
Read moreI was on a quest for a quick bite when I came across a post about something unknown to me. A bao bun!! Not knowing what it was I did what anyone would; I googled it. My screen was filled with all kind of restaurants and pictures of all sort of bun, steam and fried, all very inviting! Fluffy pillows filled with meat and vegetables! Yummy! When I found Bao Mama, I had never even heard of this place, and I have driven by, very often on my way to Traders Joe in Cherry Hill, NJ. So the second I had a chance I drove straight and had lunch with my family. The place is in a strip mall with very few businesses, and if you blink you might miss it. The restaurant is small but cozy, plenty of tables and chairs, and a lovely lady on the counter who greets you immediately as you walk in. She directs you to the menu, and shows you how plenty of options they have, from dumplings to beef bowls, smoothies to boba tea, to the famous as-big-as-your-hand bao buns. They have steamed and pan fried, my favorite so far. From pork, spicy beef, bean, and chicken. All look delicious, but I opted for an order of pan fried pork, an order of pan fried chicken and a regular steam bao buns, which has pork, sausage, mushrooms and egg. This one was delicious, and the prices are very affordable. This was my second time here and it won’t be the last. Give it a go, have a bun and thank...
Read moreHad the Big bun, cha siu, vegetable, pork, and some pan fried dumplings. Big buns were nice and hefty. Thought the char siu could have had a bit more filling. Wanted to try the red bean but they were out at the time.
You can pay with chip, there's a tip cup.
Have since tried every noodle bowl. I like them all but prefer beef noodle, or spicy rib noodle bowls. The rib is cooked so tender the bone itself is soft.
Curry beef bowl is really good too. Not spicy, but flavor is nice. Maybe contender against spicy rib as my favorite. Like beef stew.
They have some smoothies now which I think are actually really competitively priced. They come with some toppings like agar jelly and sago and cream that's not mentioned in the advertisement. They're not too sweet. I like them.
Shaved ice is nice. Not too big, but can share with a friend if you're eating dinner with drinks.
They have souffle pancake around brunch time on the weekends! Fluffy, topped with...
