I love supporting small business so when it was time for my son's school eye exam I immediately thought of this place since it's down the street from my house and conveniently located at the Mariano's strip mall. I called the day before and asked about their hours as well as if we could do a walk in or if we should make an appointment. I was told that a walk in would be best for a school vision exam. The next day I took my son in at 5:00pm (the shop closes at 7pm). Other reviewers have stated that there are a lot of people at the front counter and there were in my experience as well, about 3-4 women standing there. I approached the counter (no hello, no smile) and asked about the exam. The young lady who answered my questions said they were not doing exams any more. I asked if they close at 7pm and she said yes. I asked why there were not doing any more exams and she said because there were a lot of people already waiting. I looked around the room and there were about 3-4 families in the waiting area. A vision exam takes 15-20 min max (I have glasses and have had them my whole life so I have had quite a few exams in my life). I looked back the at young lady and she just stared at me. She didn't offer to book us for an appointment tomorrow or another day. I stood there waiting for some sort of customer service and after a few moments just walked out. I understand that they had a full waiting room but at least apologize and offer to make us an appointment another day. Sheesh. And yes the place is dark and the rug is dirty and worn as other reviewers have said. I will definitely not be back. I will look for another local optical place...

I've never seen the same Dr twice and don't mind that since all of them I meet are always so nice and patient with me. My annual eye exam was with Dr. Avalon Kindman today–she is amazing and I love her energy! The ladies up front, as always, are so welcoming and kind!
A few years ago, I had my first-ever contact fitting, and everyone at that office was SO PATIENT with me. I, for the life of me, could not get the contact in or out for the first hour. After I finally made progress, I decided to leave them alone until my next annual exam. The staff made the process fun and exciting somehow with their patience and words of encouragement.
As someone who also works in healthcare, this office is exactly what I'm looking for when I'm on the other end receiving care. Everyone working there is very kind, welcoming, and great at explaining things! The office has a wide variety of great frames and contact lenses so I never have to worry about not being able to find something I like.
Bonus: they take nearly all types of insurance plans! When I came as a kid, they took my Medicaid and now I use the insurance plan I have through my parents...
Read moreHorrible customer service, i literally had to leave and cancel my appointment. There was a man employee that I felt was nitpicking on my family. I came with my mother of 80 years of age and my son that is 3 with autism. First this male employee tell me to turn down the volume from phone which I was using to calm my son down. So I did the man left and came back because I was giving my 3year old fruit snacks. I was feeding it to him .I did not give it to him because I was avoiding a mess. Then he came back the 3rd time to tell me if I was leaving because my appointment didn't start till 1:30 I told him. That me and my 80 years old mom was resting because we had walked a long ways. I told him what other rule was I breaking. He tell me there a sign in the front dest which I did not see. At this point I felt upset and left with out completing my appointment all that's to that employee and him kept nagging on us. If you don't want kids at the appointment please say so. Horrible heart breaking experience. Ever.i been coming here for over 10 years . And this was the worse experience ever thank to that employee. Over thinking man.
