W. Hideaway Lounge — Attraction in Chicago

Unfortunately Google Reviews don’t allow the ability to reply to a response. However although the owner’s reply alleges that the accusations of me “a paying customer” being handled in an unacceptable, unprofessional and unfair manner negates to mention that besides her showing me the video footage of me obviously knocking over a drink that I didn’t know was there - we had no dialogue. She spoke unlikely of me and about me assuming that I was drunk. She NEVER offered to replace the drink nor was there any conversation around it. My conversation was to the party I was with simply stating that I had no knowledge it was put there. Your response alone lacks professional accountability because I clearly stated that I knocked it over. I never asked you or anyone else to replace the drink. The bartender response when we saw the drink fall was- I got you. It was you who continued to make things an issue as if you never seen a spilled drink in the industry that you work in. Also, my friend was not embarrassed but he did state numerous times that WE know that I didn’t know it was there. In regards to my tears, yes I was disappointed in how you handled the situation and remembered that I was delivered from matching your level of ignorance. Lastly, I had nothing to gain from denying or admitting to knocking over a full drink. You act is if it was a drink I already had and spilled then denied it. Make it make sense! Perfect name for a cute spot in the cut. My two stars are specifically for the Dj, we all know it is the music that makes the party & he was great at reading the room. I went to purchase the $8 Margarita special for my girlfriend & I. When I got to the bar, the bartender was acting clueless as if she didn’t comprehend they had been advertising $8 Margaritas, so she tried to be slick & up charge me $15 for each drink, and didn’t even make the flavor I requested. I was so upset at her ignorance, I just sat down because as a business owner myself, I would not let her be the face of my brand. The plan was for us to do 3 drinks, & a shot a piece to celebrate our success, but because she was a Con-Artist, I only spent the $30 & took my money to “The Den” where I was able to order food & delicious drinks. It’s no excuse for bad customer service when the customers are the ones who money counts. It’s time for Black businesses to have their workers take an etiquette class. Last night was 100% uncaused for & the Bartender needs to do better, or find a job she actually enjoy, so people won’t have to be bumped into such nasty energy. Worse hospitality ever UNLESS you’re a man or a known customer. My best advice when stepping to the bar, ask for their drink menu that way the bartender can’t lie about prices, and have patience. W Highway Lounge – A Bronzeville Gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As someone who splits time between Atlanta and Chicago, I make it a point to visit W Highway Lounge whenever I’m in town—at least once a week! This spot has quickly become one of my favorite places in the city. Whether it’s Bingo Night, Karaoke, or House Music Fridays, I’ve never had a bad time here. Ever.

From the moment I first stepped in—introduced by my uncle two years ago—I felt the warmth and authenticity of this place. Most recently, we celebrated the life of my uncle’s mother here, and it was the perfect setting for our family to come together, reminisce, and sing our hearts out. That night was a reminder of just how powerful spaces like this can be.

The ownership is top-tier, truly invested in building community, and the bartenders are fantastic—especially Paris, who always brings the energy and professionalism that keeps people coming back. The security team deserves special recognition too. In a time when feeling safe on a night out isn’t guaranteed, W Highway Lounge provides that peace of mind without compromising the vibe.

It’s a beautiful thing to witness a Black-owned business thrive while staying rooted in the community. I applaud the entire team at W Highway Lounge. Keep doing what you’re doing—you’ve got a loyal supporter...
