I'm a jamaican an I'm eating this food right now. There is nothing about this food that's jamaican. The rice and peas is not jamaican rice and peas, and the rice is salty. I bought oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken and rice and peas. It came to $40. I regret wasting my money at this place the food was not worth the price. I feel bad for people who don't know real jamaican food, and what it tastes like, and think this is jamaican! Smh! All you have to do is put a name on something and people rush into it! Look at my food! This is what's left and I can't even finish it! Kmt!!! Mi did really excited fi eat this food enoh! And think my money was gonna be well spent! But i learn from this, and will never shop at another wanna be so called jamaica restaurant in the U.S again! Bombaclat!

I had high hopes for this place. Authentic Jamaican food is hard to come by in Chicago. The cook is Jamaican. My family and I ordered curried goat, curried chicken, and a beef patty. When the cook pointed to the curried goat, I thought he was mistaken. It didn't look like curried goat. "I cut goat differently from other people," the chef said. We trusted his word. When we got home and tasted the "curried goat", it didn't taste like goat meat. It was tough and hardly had meat on it. (See pictures) A family member got sick after eating it. I feel as if we weren't told the truth about the goat meat. That it was something else. As a result, we will never come back to this establishment.

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered oxtail with macaroni, corn, and 4 jerk wings for pickup. When I arrived, I saw them heat up my food in a microwave, which was already disappointing. As soon as I got in my car and opened the container, the smell was off—it had an expired, sour scent. The rice was hard like it had been sitting out for a while. The food did not taste fresh at all, and I couldn’t eat it. For a total of $37, this was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re okay with risking an upset stomach.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. My roommate and I were using the app TooGoodToGo (fantastic app by the way, check it out if you want to reduce food waste, but don’t order from here) and we reserved two boxes from this restaurant and were told that our pick up time was 11:00pm-11:59pm. We placed the order around 9:45pm/10pm and weren’t doing anything, so we would’ve been happy to go earlier, but we stuck to the scheduled pick up time given to us by the restaurant/app, which was also no problem - until we arrived. We took a bus and arrived at the restaurant by 11:10pm to locked doors and being ignored, despite multiple open signs being up and lit and arriving at the specified pick up time. When we got there someone else walked up and knocked on the door saying something like “they have orders, they already paid” having noticed our confusion. This was met with “we’re closed” being yelled at us over and over through locked doors - mind you it is also pouring down rain. My roommate and I saw our two boxes sitting on the counter and we attempted to show our phones with the TooGoodToGo confirmation through the glass door, but were continuously told “you gotta go through the app” so as to say “we’re not letting you in, so go through the app and figure out what YOU need to do.” At this point, we realized they really were not going to let us in to receive the two boxes of food we already paid for or to relieve us from the pouring rain despite us arriving on the early side of our specified pick up time. So, we walked back to the bus stop and waited for the bus. Not even a full 5 minutes later, as we waited, we saw the lady that yelled the second remark about the app at us walking away from the restaurant with a bag full of food. Incredibly disappointing experience, and will not return here; we were given no reason to.

And all this...

They say that they are open until 12am but that is a huge lie, I placed my order at 10:30pm and arrived at 11:16pm. I pulled up outside to be shocked to see there open sign was turned off, all the chairs were put up on the tables and not a single worker in sight, even all the food was gone. I knocked and banged on the windows with no response. I called and called and called with no one ever answering. And my order kept saying it was ready for pick up… so they had to have accepted my order before deciding to steal my money. I was parked by the back of the restaurant and could see that there were still people inside, they even had their truck warming up and this is all around 11:30pm, there was even a little toddler walking in and out of there back to the truck all alone. I asked when off the workers who walked outside about my order and all he had to say was that they were closed they closed at 11. I showed him my order on the app and everything but he just ignored me and walked away like I was crazy. So let me reiterate, when you look up this place on anything it says they close at 12am. I’m so disappointed and saddened that I could not support this local business but it looks like they don’t care about their customers and are just trying to steal money. Also there is no way they have that many 5 star reviews when they do this kind of...

I do eat at this location because it’s the only jerk restaurant in my neighborhood however the service is rude & disrespectful.

If they’re busy, they don’t want to answer questions and they will hang up the phone on you.

If they Don’t hang up the phone will lay the phone down and you hang up first.

Well, I decided to not hang up and listen to the conversation for 34 minutes before they realized I was still on hold!

When I did call back and I spoke to B” I told her all I was trying to do was get an understanding of what she was telling me and she didn’t have to hang up. She did not apologize. She basically explained the reason why she hung up on me is because I kept asking her questions and she was busy with customers.

If there are any other jerk restaurants that would like to come into the community, I will personally sign the petition and help that happen.

This is not the first time this experience has happened at this restaurant, but I think we need to put a stop to it!

They are taking advantage of the fact, there is not another jerk restaurant nearby. I guarantee if the competition comes in, they will learn how to respect...
