This is a very charming and tastefully decorated GUEST HOUSE.
The outside: There is free, brightly lit, street parking. The neighborhood is clean and the adjacent lot is tidy. The back yard is also clean.
The inside: Entry (2nd floor) is the common area is an "open floorplan" with full size kitchen, dining area and living room area. This is not a handicap accessible place so if you have mobility challenges, do not book here.
1st & 3rd floors are the individual living quarters. Imagine you're renting a room from someone on Airbnb, same principles. There is a shared bathroom on 1st & 3rd floors. My room was on the 1st floor in the front of the house, quite spacious and the bed was comfortably soft; it was kind of set up like my guest bedroom at home.
I've read several 1 star reviews and have come to the conclusion some reviewers aren't being completely honest and have gone on a schmear campaign. •Yes, they have rules. They are there to keep people honest. No business owner wants to be taken advantage of, and neither does this homeowner. If you book and pay for 1 person and try to bring 2 others in, in the words of the owner's house manual, "We reserve the right to terminate the reservation/stay of any guest that commits booking fraud or fraudulently misrepresents any information provided to us. No money will be refunded if a reservation/stay is terminated." I think that's perfectly fair. I cohost an Airbnb at home and I've had to bust groups for having extra guests without paying for them. Extra guest use extra amenities (electricity, gas, water, towels...) that the homeowner has to pay for. •I haven't seen any of the "hidden fees" a few reviewers have mentioned. The only thing I can think of is the base rate for 1 person is $X and an additional person is extra. Hotel rooms are based on double occupancy. This guest house doesn't penalize you for flying solo. •Yes, there is no front desk or bellman. Instead you text with the owner. They are very responsive. •Yes, you send a pic of your DL or passport, but you don't send them a pic of your credit card. There is a $100 deposit that is invoiced separate from the booking, but that's disclosed upfront. You don't get the check-in instructions until you pay the deposit. •We live in the land of technology. Your given a front door code and you let yourself in...keyless entry! •Yes they ask you to take your shoes off in the house, just like you're at home. It stays cleaner that way. Long story short, if you have integrity and come with the understanding that it's a true guest house and you're renting a room, you'll have...
Read moreWorst worst worst. Note: After I wrote this review they asked me for more money saying some random charge ... He literally threatened me take down the review else they'll charge more money.
Just money Eaters ...
This place is by far the worst place I have been to. I need to invent an all ne degree of co The host is just a fraud. There is no way to call him and talk to him. He receives only texts. I had reserved for 2 days and I wanted to have an extra comforter for the second night because a friend was joining . The host charged me an extra guest fee for both nights. One of those nights when no one extra stayed. When I asked him the same , he threatened to evict me out of the place saying I was violating . I was being honest perhaps should have just bought a $30 comforter from walmart. The host then charged me an early check-in fee. When I asked what the hell that was , he replied "You are a nightmare ". Just because I was asking why I need to pay him money , he called me that. He called later and apologized saying it was meant for someone else 2 . There is absolutely no sound proofing in the house. There were yelling and shouting and talking all night thru. There was barely a minute I slept. Thankfully they had ear buds in the restroom, which BTW was the only thing there.get ur own shampoos pastes etc etc .
The extra bed for which he charged me ridiculous amount, was a blanket which was smaller than a queen size blanket and I had to adjust in a space that was 6foot long , FYI IAM 6"2'.
At 5 in the morning therr were terrible yellings. I was just super scared if the safety of my friends, both were girls.
I would never comeback to this place again and if you ever think of going here , please be ready for the worst...
Read moreThe good: It's very nice decorated and in it's in a quiet place, very practical.
The bad: When I booked it said $60/ night which went up to $103 with taxes and fees. Which is fine, but then shortly after we checked in, I received a text message from the owner stating that my "reservation was subject to cancellation due to number of guests booked violation and that there was a $50/ extra guest charge" This was the first time I had ever heard of anything like this. Ive always thought that you book a room and not per guests. I mean paying for the extra guest didn't move us to a bigger room or a bigger bed so I don't see the reason for the up charge.
The room and the house was very hot at all times and I did not see a thermostat to change the temperature. It was difficult to sleep. Also the room is very small for the $170/ that I ended up paying in total.
Bottom line I think for around the same price or maybe a bit more you can get an actual hotel room with way more room and more comfortable. I would not recommend to stay here.
UPDATE* After roughly about 2 hours after posting this review, the owner then texted me demanding I delete the review, to which I replied I wouldn't do because I did not lie about anything and all I did was state the facts. He then threatened to file a law suit against me if the review wasn't taken down.
Do yourselves a favor and avoid the drama and harrasment that this "business" owner apparently likes to create and apparently can't handle criticism well at all. He will not stop calling me and texting me. It is very annoying...
