Our 4 year old has recently become very interested in space so decided to take him here to watch one of the planetarium space shows along with our 2 other kids. Looked up the info online and found there was a space show at 6pm on Friday 12/30 of winter break. However, there wasn't an option to purchase tickets online. Called at 11am when they opened the day of the show and they said you have to come in and purchase tickets at the front desk. We arrived more than a half hour before the show and was told it was sold out. We told them we drove over a half hour to see the show and would have purchased tickets in advance but weren't given the option. They said tickets could have been reserved, but whoever we talked to several hours before never mentioned this. We asked if people didn't show up if we could purchase their seats, to which they replied that everyone had shown up. When they closed the door to the planetarium to start the show, there were 10-15 open seats minimum inside the planetarium! Very disappointed that 1) we weren't told we could reserve tickets and 2) we weren't allowed in when there was plenty of open seats! Our 4 year old was looking forward to seeing the show all day and this was just poor management by the staff! Have always enjoyed the roberson museum but this was...
Read moreWent here today for the first time. This place is awesome for a Sunday afternoon with the wife and kids. I particularly enjoyed the mansion. I imagined the Robersons walking about through the different rooms lol. The room that really spoke to me however was Mr. Roberson’s den . This room was his private study. It almost felt like it was still being used and like he just stepped away for a break! The local native American section was also very interesting with artifacts as old as 9000 b.c.
My 9 yr old boy enjoyed the train room, the wildlife exhibit and the planetarium, he had fun too!
The one minor issue that I had and that could easily be fixed was the sound system in the planetarium. It lacked the punch necessary to really engage you during the film. Investing in a quality surround sound speaker system should easily...
Read moreIt's a very worthwhile place to see with an eclectic collection. There were many beautiful prints of Windland Smith Rice Awards "Highly Honored nature photography. Each with a description. One room had a huge model train layout complete with a Drive-in theater and a garage with flickering light representing welding. Art by Linda Ciallelo and several other artists are displayed. The Nature Trek room has over 150 stuffed and mounted specimens from Lee J. Loomis. He estimated he had mounted over 10,000 birds, mammals and fish.. They are beautifully presented in several scenes in a realistic way. There are also samples of the mammal's fur to feel. The Roberson Mansion was built in 1904-1906 in Italian Renaissance Revival style. There is free off the...
