I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Downtown by Jay. Pisculli. I went for my birthday dinner and it was so much more than I could have wished for!!
Beautiful Venue: It offers such an intimate, cozy feeling with the ambience light, candles, greenery and earthy tones. I really enjoyed eating at the booth with my husband and I can't wait to come back for drinks with girlfriends in the comfy leather chairs. The time and effort that went into each detail was incredibly well executed and it makes the space so authentic (I loved the chosen photography and newspaper clippings in the bathrooms!). It is unlike any other restaurant in the area.
Kind-Hearted Staff: I can't say enough about the positive interactions I had with all staff members before, during and following our dinner. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed into the new space. Our server, Morgan, was detail-oriented, very knowledgeable about the menu, offered menu suggestions (loved this!!) and she was so accommodating with our dietary restrictions. Stephen, the general manager, was so friendly and attentive throughout our dining experience. His eye for design is truly a gift and I loved all the authentic ideas he brought to life. We really appreciated seeing Chef Jay when he stopped by our table during our main course. My husband and I were blown away by the quality of his food. The obvious care and dedication he puts into all of his dishes is so appreciated and his talent speaks for itself.
The Food: Hands down the best meal I have experienced in the Binghamton area. The menu items are beautifully crafted. We had the scallop appetizer, salmon and pork chop. For a girl who has tasted many, many salmon dishes in her 29 years, I was so impressed by this dish - it was cooked to absolute perfection. I loved the elegant flow experienced throughout the entire meal from drinks to apps to main course. There were so many little details that truly made my dinner a fine dining 'experience'.
Thank you so much to the staff for the most wonderful birthday dinner! I have recommended Downtown by Chef Jay Pisculli to so many locals and I can't wait to go back next week!! So excited to see this beautiful venue prosper - a HUGE congratulations and good luck to the entire...
Read moreLet's start with service. Most new places need time to get food and timing right. I was so pleasantly surprised here. The service was impeccable. We got cocktails before dinner at the bar too and loved the attention we received there and at dinner. Food was delivered QUICK and service was attentive.
The food. The fooooood. Ok. I got the pork chop...hubby got steak. The pork was mouth wateringly delicious and such a fresh perspective from the milanese we see everywhere (I love a milanese don't get me wrong). I mean...mustard, pickled, acid...omg. it was massive and my husband kept stealing bites. The seasoning on the pork (which was a generous serving) worked so well. Cook was perfect. I can't wait to order this again.
Hubby's steak was well seasoned and cooked perfect. He loved it!!!
Now...let's talk about the star of the whole dinner. The Corn Brulee. I'm not totally scientifically certain...but I'm sure every physical ailment, emotional ailment etc can be easily healed by this heavenly item. It was every texture one could want...crunchy, velvety, gritty, smooth...one bite of this feels like the warmest hug from a mom or gramma you always wanted. It's a food hug. Made me emotional. Not kidding.
There are so many things I want to try there. So many more things. This place is the leading voice of fine dining in downtown Bing. I can't wait to go back and I am so glad it's here. I was so touched at the care the staff put towards the food and service. Go. Go. Go. Go there. ...

We Visited Downtown on a weekday evening between 6 and 8pm, the establishment was semi-busy. RESERVATIONS were made and are highly recommended here.
We decided on Downtown for a special event after hearing of the recent renovations to make the Downtown Beer Tree location a little more upscale. We were greeted at the door and immediately shown a table.
On this visit I opted for the special which was a steak topped with crumbly blue cheese and a side of corn creme brulee. We also opted for an appetizer, crispy deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were excellent! I was a little reserved about this choice but those reservations quickly went away after the first bite, and I would highly recommend them. The steak was cooked to perfect temperature (I opt for mid-rare) and was packed with flavor. The corn creme brulee was another item that blew me away, I was not expecting it to be as delicious as it was. A great and well put together meal!
Another neat touch is you get to choose the knife you would like to use to cut your entree from a boxed selection. It adds a bit to the experience.
Do keep in mind that this restaurant is now catering to a more upscale vibe, and with that comes upscale costs. Our trip, with two entrees, an appetizer and alcohol, put us back around $200. This is not a restaurant that the average Joe is going to frequent often, but it does make for a wonderful experience for those...
