I'm writing concerning the event "Binghamton on Tap" being held at the arena. I posted a suggestion in comments on their Facebook page with a suggestion to promote responsible drinking in Binghamton. They immediately took the post down. Apparently they are part of the problem. You decide if my suggestion was reasonable. Binghamton has a serious drinking problem and the media which is in a position by just telling people to not drink and drive or have a designated driver. The media and Visions Arena are in a position to lead the way in encouraging local bars to be leaders in creating extremely low alcohol or no alcohol craft beers. This is the perfect window to offer customers a safe way to party with their friends. I fail to see the downside of this idea. Apparently Wegman's recognizes the profitability of this market by offering a large selection of non alcohol craft beers.
This is the comment Binghamton on Tap took down on their Facebook page. If this event is claiming to be representing Binghamton in their name then Binghamton should hold them responsible for promoting safe alternatives to intoxication.
Comment that was taken down:
Why don't you create a contest for the brewery making the best extremely low alcohol to non alcohol beer. This is a growing market which some of the grocery stores have embraced. It seem in Binghamton that the bars are only interested in promoting irresponsible drinking. They completely ignore the market that wants to hang with their friends without getting intoxicated. This event is in a position to promote responsible drinking by encouraging equivalent alternatives to high alcohol. I don't go to a bar to...
Read moreVisions Veterans Memorial Arena is a nice multi-purpose arena located in Binghamton, NY. The arena is home to the Binghamton Black Bears of the FPHL. Capacity for a hockey game is 4,710. Capacity for concerts is 7,200. The arena is clean and has excellent sightlines for hockey games. There are many concession stands in the concourse area. Prices at these stands are cheap and affordable by sports stadium standards. Craft brews can be purchased as well. Spiedie flavored foods, a regional classic, can also be purchased at many of the concession stands. The Black Bears have a fairly nice team store as well. The stairways going to your seats can be narrow, but games here don’t usually sell out so they shouldn’t be a problem. The arena was previously home to various AHL teams including the Binghamton Rangers and Senators. The arena has a nice collection of memorabilia from previous teams that called the arena home. The banners of these teams can be seen in the rafters as well. When walking around on the outer concourse there are nice views of the surrounding city. Right outside the stadium is a thoughtful memorial dedicated to the area’s veterans. There are many parking garages nearby and they are easy to access. It is best to purchase tickets online ahead of time for events here. It is easy to access other parts of historic downtown Binghamton from the arena. This is an easy to access great place to see a sports or...
Read moreLocal for me. Have been here a few times for various things most recently being in August 2018 for KC and the Sunshine Band. KC was supposed to play at Spiedie fest but was cancelled at original venue due to emergency weather and flooding conditions there. Thankfully the concert was rerouted to Floyd L. Maines that same day instead. I respected the efforts the arena staff put forth that day to accommodate KC and The Sunshine Band and their fans. Comfortable setting, friendly professional staff. Enjoyed that event so...
