Bullpen Tavern — Restaurant in City of Glens Falls

I don't know that this place has had much attention, so I wanted to add another spot to the Glens Falls food scene. I didn't take many pics, as I was too busy enjoying it all, but don't let that deter you.

The Bullpen is a bar on the main drag in Glens Falls and at first glance you might dismiss this as a local watering hole, the kind of place you go to watch the game, grab a drink, and maybe some average wings or apps. Not so!

The food here has always been a hidden gem, but as ny husband and I noted during dinner last night, they have really stepped up their game lately. We sat at the bar and 3 attentive staff members made sure our waters were topped off, drink refills were offered, orders were taken promptly, and plates were removed as we finished each dish. Customer service A++. So friendly, but not in that overly smothering type way.

Now onto the food. This is not a place with a range of dinner entrees. But it is the place to go if you are looking for great pub food, an awesome chicken sandwich, or some of the amazing specials they put out daily.

Last night we sampled: Pork pot stickers - fried to a wonderful crispy texture, order of 8(!), and a perfect complementary dipping sauce

Cheese fries - the ones I have been searching for, for months. Melted cheddar jack, crispy bacon, scallions all layered throughout a huge pile of crispy shoestring fries, with ranch (on the side per my request). These brought me back in the best way possible to my early 20s and late nights at Dennys enjoying a more chain-restaurant version of the same. It is dangerous that I now know these exist 5 minutes from my house.

Crispy buffalo chicken sandwich - Note, I changed the cheese from blue jack to cheddar, preferring to enjoy the blue cheese in a way I could dip my sandwich into it instead. I cannot say enough good things about ALL of their chicken sandwiches. Pounded thin the way I love, on a toasted roll, with no "funny pieces" to be found. Theirs is not a typical buffalo chicken, instead lightly dressed. Your hands won't be covered in dripping orange when you finish. I like the whole variety of buffalo sandwiches,but appreciate this one for the subtlety.

Chicken and waffles - This is a special, so if your heart is set on this, find out if it's available before you go. 3 good sized chicken tenders on 2 homemade waffles. I love everything about this- especially the waffles! - but it can be a little sweet for me. I would add a little heat/savory to the chicken to better match the sweetness. Maybe a dipping sauce on the chicken next time? That being said - try this dish (and only $12 for all of this food!).

They also serve some other interesting dishes...cheeseburger quesadillas, for one, and buffalo chicken soup, deep fried green beans with cucumber wasabi dip. I could go on and on...

The best part...all of this food plus a captain and Coke for less than $60 (before tip). Great prices, phenomenal customer service, and terrific food. Worth the drive for sure even if you aren't right...

Went a couple weeks ago on a Wednesday night after a softball game. It was our softball team so there was about 12 of us. Gentleman at the bar, who has worked there for a while I'm pretty sure, couldn't be more rude. Basically threw a fit about the size of our party even though there was only a few people at the bar. He also charged all my drinks as doubles, which he didn't ask about and he definitely didn't pour doubles. Food was good. Wings are always good here. Waitress was phenomenal (only reason it got more than 1 star). Place is usually really good. Our team goes out on Wednesdays after our game. So because of this dude Bullpen misses out on hundreds of dollars every Wednesday. I'm sure this isn't the first nor last time someone stopped going here...

Super Bowl Sunday 2023 , My husband and I stopped in to have lunch and see RJ . Unfortunately he was not on the bar . The Blonde that was on the bar greeted us after a few minutes ,got us a drink , never asked if we wanted a menu , walked away and Never came back ! She walked by us at least ten times ,never even looked our way . I finally asked to be cashed out and went to the Full Moon for lunch . I was a bartender for 20 years and she’s not going to be doing your business any good at all . I felt bad for the people who walked in 10 minutes before we left , No one even acknowledged them , if they were smart they left too....
