My letter to Aldi: This Aldi in Ithaca, NY is extremely hostile and discriminatory. They have a bouncer posted outside who controls and even body checked my entrance because I was not wearing a mask. Did she care to ask if I had a medical exemption? Does she even know what the state executive order says about masks? NO! In New York the law is I can be without a mask if I maintain my distance - which I do beautifully. You need to know that I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN UNTIL THIS BOUNCER IS REMOVED AND I DO NOT FEEL HOSTILITY WHEN SHOPPING! New York is opening up. I can shop at Walmart without a mask just fine! I can shop in other Aldi facilities in the state of NY without a mask and never has a lady questioned me. THIS SHOULD BE UNACCEPTABLE. There is actually a LAW (not just an executive order) that shopping with a mask is considered a crime. Penal Law 240.35(4) Should I consider suing your facility for making me commit a crime? Please just ask this facility to remove the bouncer. And let me know so I can return MASKLESS...
Read moreI’ve been shopping at Aldi since I was in 5th grade. And I’m 24 years old now. I love the chain, and I love what it stands for. I will however make note that this Aldi has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at any Aldi. It is very evident that the employees are young, and not very well trained in dealing with customers. The checkout cashiers are curt, and don’t seem to ever want to help search for food items. The only person who I’ve encountered at this establishment who has any people skills is the manager. He’s awesome, but he should hire more people who are willing to help.
Also, all of the comments about how there is only ever one checkout open are absolutely true. This might be a staffing issue, but it’s still annoying as a customer because you have to wait in a really long line for subpar customer service.
I will continue to shop here because of the great prices, but honestly, I wish there was another Aldi in the area because after a long day of work no one wants to deal with a...
Read moreI think Aldi's is a top notch place for produce, frozen foods, and meats. They rival the costs of other higher end grocery stores and their prices are typically lower for food that is just as good. They do have some brand named foods from time to time as well. Their english muffins for .99 are as good as Thomas' for 3 x the money. I go there for the produce which is so much lower in cost than any other store around and very fresh. They do have frozen seafood that is great and sometimes will have a section of international foods, such as Asian or Mexican that you can buy to make an entire authentic meal. I don't shop there as much because of their location, but I do try and go there at least...
