I have been touring Permaculture gardens all weekend and this is by far one of my favorite ones!
If this was near my town (in NJ), this would be educational for both children AND adults who don't know a lot of the techniques and concepts presented in this gorgeous garden.
This is a fabulous and fun way to teach/learn about ecology and being resposible stewards of mother earth, while also creating delicious food, habitats, microclimates, art, play spaces, rest spaces, and the fun of playing in mud if parents decide to venture into that area of the park (there is a place to wash off).
I love how the collective community of Ithaca make environmental appreciation and conservation a priority and infuse these values in their kids and in the people who visit.
This garden is a fantastic representation of this in physical form.

The anarchy zone lets them build with wood, pallets, plastic culvert pieces, slides, tires, hay bales, shovels, and branches; climb trees; and dig in the dirt and mud. They also seem to be doing a wonderful job of keeping the place safe during this pandemic— some things were unavailable, such as the kitchen, story time area, and they were not giving out watering cans for kids to water the plants, which was a bummer but of course understandable.
