Don't let the 5 star reviews fool you.
My experience with Modera was horrible. I was applying for the apartment, which started at $2235. As I am about to put my card information in, the screen refreshes and changes to $2463 due to the trash fee, delivery fee, amenity fee, etc.
I called 11 times. Nobody answered their phones at this place. The only person who would pick up was an Ai-automated person named Millie. The leasing office NEVER had anyone available. I called during business hours and Ai Millie said no one was in the office to assist me. Ai Millie wasn’t able to accommodate my request because it was a specific question I had about the fluctuation of rent before securing the apartment.once again, I called one more to speak with someone.
Finally, I got a hold of someone and they said that their system automatically raises the rent and they have no control over what it does. I gave them grace, put down a deposit, and paid for the application fee.
I received a separate email asking for my bank statements and Paystubs through Snappt. Every time I would put my paystubs through Snappt, It automatically declined because it said I saved my paystubs as a PDF file rather than downloading it directly from the website. However, I work for the Department of Education. In order for me to save my Paystub, I HAVE to download it. I tried calling them 11 more times and no one picked up. Finally, a woman named Jasmine picked up and said that they had noticed my bank statements were uploaded however, my pay stubs were not . I told her that I was trying to call their office multiple times because I was having issues uploading my paystub. I kindly asked her if I could email it to her directly. She said, “No, that’s not how it works here. If you can’t upload your paystubs through that website unfortunately you’re not getting the apartment.”
I lived in New York City my whole life. I’ve never heard of a place that doesn’t accept paystubs via email. Secondly, how were you able to accept my bank statements without a hassle, which is PRIVATE information but not my paystubs? Weird!!!
I reached out again, five more times and finally got someone to give me a refund for the $500 hold.
The fact that no one is answering their phones during their office hours is already a red flag for me. If they couldn’t answer my phone call before I was a resident, what makes you think they would answer the phone when I became a resident? I dodged a bullet and will never apply here again.
Some advice: maybe, you should include the trash, amenity fee, happy to deliver fee, etc. to the total price of the rent, rather than misleading people into thinking that your apartments are cheap when...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had a negative experience with Tatiana Jones, the Assistant Community Manager of Modera New Rochelle. She did not handle our appointment with professionalism and respect and for that we will spend our money elsewhere.
Firstly, Tatiana called me and set us up an appointment for 5/9/2023 at 4:00PM even after I informed her I wouldn't be able to get there till 4:30ish PM. I explained we would be rushing from the train and she stated as long as I was there before 5 it was fine. Well apparently it wasn't fine, she supposedly had a 5:00PM appointment and the appointments run an hour long, this indicates poor time management skills. However, when we arrived at 4:45 pm, she was nowhere to be found, and instead of coming out to speak with us, she sent the concierge back and forth with messages stating that she had already begun her 5:00pm appointment and couldn't accommodate us. (Update: After leaving and arriving back home she called to inform me her 3:30pm appointment ran late and that she scheduled that 5:00pm appointment recently. So two questions then... 1. Why would you not have offered me the 5pm when I told you I would only be able to get there around 4:30ish and 2. If your prior appointment ran late then where was my call to inform me that so I didn't waste my time coming out there?)
This level of dismissiveness and lack of communication is unacceptable, especially given that my twenty-seven week pregnant girlfriend and I rushed from work and paid for parking to be there. We were left standing there in the lobby passing messages back and forth like a game of telephone for 15 minutes. Tatiana should have acknowledged our presence and provided us with updates on her availability or any changes in her scheduled meeting times prior to us making the trip out there.
Overall, Tatiana Jones failed to provide us with adequate customer service and left us feeling frustrated and disrespected. Her actions demonstrate a lack of professionalism and attention to detail that are crucial in any customer-facing role. Based on our experience, I would not recommend working with Tatiana or Modera...
Read moreI’m sure that Modera did not think I’d come on here and make a review but guess what! My partner and I applied for a 2 bedroom in September. He was the main applicant and I was the co applicant. I uploaded all of my information and my partner was able to upload his bank statement. Now his job is privately owned by old people. Unfortunately they just do not have a financial institution online for HR or payroll. They do everything very old school. Everything is paper. We tried so many times to upload the paystubs in so many different forms and we just could not. On top of that, to get in contact with a leasing agent is impossible. I sent multiple emails and texts and left voicemails and waited 48 hours to be contacted. So now we have no way of uploading these paystubs are trying to figure out a way to get them in because we want this apartment, and since, I GOT APPROVED UNDER ONE CONDITION. I got an email saying I was approved but needed to double the deposit which was no problem. We were still trying to figure out how to get my partners paystubs in because we knew that both of us combined, would be approved. After days of going back and forth, I get a call from jasmine telling me we don’t qualify she said she took a look at his paystubs from the email. I asked her how. I got an email saying I was approved under one condition. She said “yea no.” Like what the hell does that mean? If I got approved with my income alone you’re telling me that with his income and mine we don’t qualify?! How is that even possible. If you were tired of us or didn’t want to continue to help us you could have just said that. Why lie? You and I both are glad we didnt get “approved” because it would have been a nightmare with me in that building. For the next applicant, if you don’t get your payroll information from a financial institution online they will not approve you. A freaking NIGHTMARE...
