I went back to get 2 bar stools reupholstered that had been done by Fabrics and Findings 10 years ago, but the vinyl had worn through in 3 years since it was too soft and not binding well to the backing. In short, it was the wrong choice for the job. But, the job was beautifully and inexpensively done .
THIS time the same job was 4 times the cost. However, conscious of the problem I had the previous time, and a bit shell-shocked by the difference in cost, I was more careful not only about the vinyl, but also the possibility of similar wear due to how it was upholstered. Carl was helpful when choosing a durable vinyl replacement. They redid the upholstery twice, the second time with photos from an original chair's upholstered style, with having to order more vinyl as well. Jeremy handled my requests professionally. The chairs turned out GREAT and hopefully will have a longer life this time.
The great increase in cost no doubt covers situations like these so that the shop does not end up losing money/time. However, I suppose it is better to charge enough to be able to redo a job to be able to ensure the customer's satisfaction. In this case, my opinion is that the price was right...
Read moreContracted for fabric replacement on cornice and replication of awning style valances for 4 windows. Paid as contracted. Cornice came out beautiful. Seamstress not only could not replicate the awnings, even though we actually gave her all of them to simply copy as a pattern, she ruined the originals so they are no longer usable. Each time she completed the job (without actually hanging them to see if they were correct), they called us to pick them up. When we returned them for correction, although polite, they told us that the seamstress was billing them labor costs for the correction - like this was our fault - and kept telling us how they were losing money on the job. We were refunded for the valances but now do not have a finished room. And this entire fiasco took 6 months - we asked if they would take the fabric we purchased matching the cornice and cover a new cornice for our slider so we could have a reasonably finished product and cover the labor for us and they refused. Although the staff was very nice, the experience and the seamstress were not. ...
Read moreCarl was very helpful! I went in looking for some foam padding for a set of dining room chairs that I am refurbishing. He made a recommendation for which product would work best. He also suggested placing an order for one large piece of foam rather than buying four of the small pieces that they had on hand; this cut the price almost in half! They did not charge any extra for the special order, though it did require waiting a week until they got their regular shipment in. I wasn't in a rush and I was happy to save some money. I also had to call back to change the order size as I had miscalculated. It wasn't a problem at all.
Big thanks for fantastic...
