My mother, father, and I signed up for for a family membership at this location because it was convenient. However, when we first walked in, we were quite disappointed in the greeting and service provided to us by the front desk staff. It was a red flag that we discussed with the staff person assisting us with our membership, but he seemingly brushed it off. We continued, despite our uneasiness, because the location of the gym is convenient and the fitness club has up-to-date machinery and fitness classes.
Now, being members for just about a week and a half, we have major regrets. After three visits to the gym, yesterday we were harassed by the front desk staff to take a picture for our membership profiles. This was extremely aggravating as we were in a rush to catch the yoga class that had just started, and we had just come into the building covered in snow. To be more specific, my mother checked into the facility, and they made no effort to flag or stop her, but I checked in maybe 30 second after her, and they shouted at me to get my attention. I asked the staff if the picture could be taken at a later time because I was in a rush, but they insisted that it was something that must be done immediately. My mother interjected by stating that it was obviously not that important since they did not flag her as well, and we proceeded to the locker room. That encounter with the front desk staff was so disorienting and further delayed us, so we decided not to participate in the yoga class.
We proceed to cycle through the stations to complete our workouts, and my mother and I noticed that the same front desk personnel who tried to get into a spat with us at the front door were monitoring our actions throughout the fitness center. Each station we moved to, they we were there. They were successful in their attempts at making us feel uncomfortable. Once we completed our workout, we returned to the locker. Upon leaving the locker room, it was more than a coincidence to see the same staff shadowing us throughout our workout at the front desk. They yet again tried to confront us about taking the picture, but my mother and I felt so uncomfortable with their antics that we refused.
We initially left the fitness club, but then returned again to collect the names of the staff people involved in making our gym experience uncomfortable. As we were making requests for their names the staff people continued to be argumentative and confrontational, causing the situation to escalate and my mother and I to act out of character. One of the staff people involved, was the most arrogant and haughty customer service individual I have ever encountered. His name is Jordan, and he took pleasure in provoking us to anger and smiled and laughed in our faces as we were asking for the names of the staff people involved. We asked to speak to a manager, since the current state of the conversation was worsening, and he retorted arrogantly that he was the manager. So we then made requests to speak to whoever his supervisor was and, at least he had the decency to be transparent enough to let us know that the general manager was available.
After sitting down with the GM, he did assure us that he understood why we felt as if we were being harassed and let us know that staff has in no way been instructed to pursue members over something as futile as a picture. And, in an effort to placate us, he gave us a towel and some guest passes. We, however, will not put those guest passes to use, as we would wish no one the horrific experience we had with the staff at this location.
We have notified corporate LA Fitness about the harassment and abuse we faced at this location, but after reading the reviews, it seems clear that customer/member services and experience are not a value of...
Read moreUpdate: Place needs a visit from the board of health bad. stopped in the other day and there was black grime/mold all over the floor of the sauna. Someone posted literal poop on the floor in another review. Members here are little kids who canât pick up after themselves. Most of the equipment I showed broken in this review months ago is still broken
If something breaks here good luck, itâs gonna be down for a while. And thatâs only if itâs 100% all the way broken. If machines are missing grips, or have broken/missing pieces, why spend a couple dollars to maintain them? Place has 6-8 benches and 3 barbells for them. That would really hurt their pockets I guess. Idk if the manager gets a bonus based on their profits/losses but maintenance on ANYTHING past the absolute bare minimum does not seem to be part of the budget.
When I went in today it reeked badly of mold as soon as you opened the door and ceiling tiles were missing as if they have a water problem going on up there. Place is almost never properly clean, has awful ventilation and stinks all the time. Bathroom smells absolutely wicked. Canât imagine a gym who canât even uphold their own equipment (the reason you pay for a membership) bothers to change the filters on any of the air being recycled that youâre breathing while working out.
Seems like a lot of the members are children who finish using a weight and just leave it in a random place, apparently they give up on lifting once it involves putting it back on a rack 2ft away. Itâs honestly insane how crappy this location is compared to every single other one in the area. I live minutes from here and drive out of my way to go elsewhere. Every time I donât, I hate myself for going in here and giving this place a chance again
I only even gave an additional star because at the end of the day, itâs a gym. If you wanna workout and get some lifting done, you can, but itâs a much more miserable uninspiring experience than if you do it elsewhere. If there werenât other locations close by that werenât complete garbage like this one Iâd just cancel.
Youâre better off at...
Read moreAs someone who's been a proud member since your grand opening in 2015, I feel invested enough in this place to share some honest (and hopefully helpful) feedback.
For the past several years, I've noticed a steady decline in overall cleanliness and member etiquette thatâs really affecting the experience. Here are some specific concerns:
General Cleanliness â The gym floor, sauna, and locker rooms have all seen better days. A bit more attention here would go a long way. Did you change your cleaning company? If so, you need to change it again and/or do not try to save $ on cleaning....
Paper Towels â Theyâve become a rare commodity. I feel like I need to win the gym lottery just to find one! Regularly restocking them should be a basic standard.
Shower Curtains â After nine faithful years of privacy, they're suddenly gone. Was this a cost-saving measure? Because now, showering feels more like a team sport. Not everyone signed up for that kind of bonding!
Sauna Etiquette â Please consider enforcing a âno speakersâ policy. It's a shared spaceâwhat's relaxing to one person may be noise to another. Headphones exist for a reason, and everyone deserves a peaceful sauna session.
No Laundry in the Sauna â Itâs a sauna, not a drying rack. Letâs keep the sweaty gym gear out of there. Hot air + old sweat = not a winning combo.
Appreciate sanitizing towels around gym - that is big plus, that is why you are getting 2 stars.
What is going on with jacuzzi? For months it is not working, then re-opens for couple weeks then again out of order!!!
I genuinely love this place and want to see it thrive. These things may seem small, but they really impact the overall atmosphere. I hope this feedback helps bring some positive change!
Thanks for your time and all the hard work behind the scenes.
UPDATE: Shower curtains are back finally after an almost year being out. Thank you!
