Today's Cardboard Classic boat race showed off Victory Pointe at its best and also some its weaknesses.
WQBQ radio broadcast the event live from the stage, interviewing the captain of each cardboard boat. The odd lanes of cement became aisles between rows of booths, food trucks, and boats lined up for judging. The clean, modern bathrooms were appreciated. And the beach was used for launching the boats.
On the down side, there is little shade in the heat of a Florida summer day. Eventually, the little trees planted last year should provide some shade but until then make use of the several water fountains and minimize your sun exposure in the summer or you may end up with sunstroke, as happened to one...
Read moreAs much as it is a new addition to the town I actually don't care for it much due to the fact that it's starting to invite some unsavory individuals as well as some unnecessary garbage.
I don't want to sound unappreciative for the new additions we're having to our town but I don't think these new editions are welcoming and good people and causing good effects on our town.

Read moreIt's really nice to just walk around and or relax. I for one like the water and various different kinds of flowers, plants, and trees. Then there are the animals that inhabit the area and utilize or rely on those sources to do what they do. Lastly, you have the actual function of the system itself, and the way it filtrates strom water from pond to pond before being released into the lake. When everything starts blooming again it'll be beautiful, so don't go there now expecting it to look immaculate. Give it time, it's a nice area next to some even nicer...
