Connie is very nice. I like her. I am from Texas and so far everyone here is Iowa has been very nice and polite; however, I went to meet my husband (who is on a job right now in Iowa) in Chicago because neither of us had been before. It was alright, but we didn't get in until 5am, so I am tired. Stayed down the way at the Holiday Inn and it was excellent. Very clean and nice. However, check out time was 12. Front desk got me a cab here to the Wild Rose Casino. I have been here since 5 after 12 and they still do not have my room ready. Jenny has kind of had an attitude with me since she noticed the Chicago ball cap on my head. Well, don't judge a book by it's cover. They have cleaned other peoples room, and one lady that got here after my only had to wait about an hour to check in. I know they cannot guarantee check-in until four, but I have never paid for a suite and politely asked if my room could be cleaned earlier and been treated this way. Jenny is having rooms cleaned for guests that aren't here, and may not be here until well after 4pm. She is allowing other people to check-in and having their rooms cleaned, but seems to be set on making me wait until 4 because I'm one of those city people in her mind. Well i had to wear a hat, because I am tired and need a room and my hair looks horrible. I just don't understand why she is being this way. Like I said...all I can figure is it's the hat. So just be forewarned. Don't ask for any help from Jenny unless you aren't wearing a hat that says you are from Chicago. Also, the place I have been sitting at, the only place they really have to catch a bite to eat is surprisingly very nice. It is called Coaches Corner sports bar. I had the cheesy vegetable soup, which was basically broccoli cheese soup with a few carrots in it. Not what I expected. I also had the fried pickles. They should consider slicing them rather than just cutting down the middle and frying them as long spears. The hotel is pretty nice, and fairly new, so hopefully my room will be as well. If I ever see it...I have been waiting now for 3 hours. Guess I will give another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I had booked a room for a wedding and had just purchased a beer from the resort and threw it away before trying to enter the casino. After the young man Hunter asked for our ID's I was asked if I have been drinking I had told him yes, I just threw away a beer that I just purchased from them. we were guest at the hotel casino and just had left a wedding and now wanted to play. I was then told that I was not allowed in because I have been drinking and was to intoxicated to be allowed in. I had asked the young man why he assumed I was intoxicated. I asked him was I not walking normal or stumbling and his response was no,that my eyes looked a little glassy. After telling him that I wear contact and have dry eyes which I have to constantly put eye drops he still said no. I had asked what I can do to prove I was not intoxicated as he assumed. I asked if I can walk straight line or do any other sobriety test but he said no that they are not trained officers to do any testing. But yet because my eyes were a little glassy that was enough for him to refuse entry. We then ask to speak to the supervisor because as guest staying at the resort the one main reason we booked our stay was to gamble. The supervisor Charles came and didn't ask or look or did anything but just say no you can't come in. His response was we have the right to refuse entry to anyone. After asking if there was anyone else to whom we can speak to Charles said no he was the only one in charged. Myself weighing 180 lbs and after only drinking 6 Bud Lights within the period of 12 hours it is impossible to be intoxicated not to mention I had just finished eating at the a buffet. I will make sure to let everyone know of this experience. And on a side note another guest who was drunk and at the same wedding and came in just before me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI always like first reviewing the good. The rooms are large and clean. The bed was OK, though I had to request a blanket. There was only a sheet and thin bead spread. Bathroom was also large and clean. Iām afraid thatās about all the good. The heater was extremely loud and woke me up every time it turned on.||We went there for a concert. The show tickets were only $20, but they jack up the room rates to $139 on concert nightsāa significant increase. If we had known there was a Hampton Inn across the parking lot, we would have stayed there, as many people we met did.||The bar in the casino wasnāt great. Half of it is used for trash, bottle boxes, etc and is very unsightly. The bartenders didnāt know anything about their offered brands, and one was clueless about charging to rooms. They also use cheap plastic cups instead of proper glasses, and their pours are extremely light. ||We ate in the only open restaurant after the show. The waitress said she didnāt recommend the burgers, and my companionās steak, ordered medium, was raw. The baked potato appeared old and was cold. Club sandwich was good...hard to mess that up. There are no other handy restaurant choices. And their buffet room is only open a few days a week for limited hours.||We also had issues with some staff, who made us feel āin troubleā like little kids. Canāt take a bottle of water into the casino. Canāt order a double cocktail (which would have equaled one decent drink).||Finally, the room phones were impossible to figure out, even simply to call the front desk. ||All in all it was a very disappointing and expensive experience. We wonāt be...
