I’ll start out with the disclaimer that I’m not a hunter, not a pro gun enthusiast, and don’t dress in camo. I do love the outdoors, but not in the ā€œMurica is the bestest, God put animals on earth to kill!ā€ kind of ways. That being said, you can take my review with a grain of salt and understand that I do have a bias. Bass Pro Shops is definitely geared to those who love hunting and sporting in the outdoors - and even those that want to dress like they love those things. They literally have everything from camping snacks and lawn games to guns and full sized ATVs. They definitely aren’t messing around. What I didn’t really enjoy wasn’t what they sold (although, camo crocs?! Please don’t insult fashion by buying those for anything other than a gag gift), but the people there. The customers are one thing, most of them I don’t think I could hold a conversation with, but the staff isn’t much different. To give credit where credit is due, there have been about three staff members who were stellar on my visit, but for those three, there were easily double that who were gruff, insulting, or rude. Like when I asked a guy about the shooting practice animal dummies. I honestly had no idea what they were for. He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes and drawled out ā€œshooting.ā€ OhhhKay. Maybe he just knew I wasn’t going to buy one, so why waste his time. Another employee in the bowling alley stopped my in the hall after my kids and I bowled and insisted I didn’t pay for our food (in front of other customers). So we had to walk back and talk to the server only for him to figure out we did pay AND tipped well, and all he had to do was check our tab. My reason for going though is the bowling alley. It’s pretty cool and has a fishing/underwater theme. There’s usually a wait so my kids and I walk around and check out the massive fish tank (which is also cool), and I always stop and consider if I should buy some dill pickle flavored pop corn - I never do though. So yeah, if you’re like me and don’t find murdering animals for sport highly enjoyable, the bowling alley and fish tank are still worth the visit. If you don’t like either of those, then maybe just don’t go.

My partner and I went to Bass Pro about a month ago to get our bows tuned up and reset the draw poundage to my ability. I know NOTHING about archery. Like, holding the bow upside down and backwards. We spent 4 hours (yes, really) with Alicia Castellanos and Doug Creason. They spent dedicated time with us. They taught me how to shoot. They taught us tips and tricks. They helped set up D loops so we can use finger triggers to release the arrow. And most importantly they made us feel comfortable and important. I can't tell you how many times since then I have torn my purse apart looking for the card Alicia gave me with her name on it because she deserves the recognition. If you guys do an employee of the month, it should be her. You have a wonderful asset, do what you must to keep her. Photo of the bruise to show her I'm still learning, lol!

My buddy was right about this location I came with him we went to go get stuff for fishing yes it’s late in the year bass are docile maybe that was it in why we were both being followed but my buddy said this is the 4th time he has came in to buy fishing tackle and I clearly saw out of nowhere employees supposedly working looking at things that weren’t needing to be looked at in the same aisle as us and as we moved they didn’t move instantly they moved about 30 seconds right after us either in the same aisle or the aisle next to us parallel to us to where we can basically see what he was doing vice versa. When we got to the fishing line I saw an employee putting him between us and the emergency exit. You know we both served our country for over 10 years each as grunts and to see this happen to us especially him which is his 4th time coming in and he even told me before that they did this to him the previous 3 times even when he spent money all the 3 times. I never write reviews on places ever but to experience this first hand was beyond my belief. Yes he is a minority and I am not one to pull that card but what is the cause to follow him what triggers employees to watch him like this because the difference between me and him is basically that everything else we are in the same line of job and to see this happen angers me, maybe that’s the factor because I have been here before and never ever felt this way when I was inside but to see this first hand is insane. I’ll be sure to let everyone within our Unit a heads up and to let them know that there is a Blacklist That Is Updated Frequently that is put into place for all Service Members on that Post to be blacklisted from going. I hope this fixes this because just because someone looks young or the way they dress or the way they move doesn’t mean they’re going to steal something made us feel uncomfortable walking through and shopping, You never know what someone might be going through because they maybe just trying to fit into society the best they can even though it’s natural for you it maybe harder for them. Also when I go shopping I like to see every single thing in that aisle just because someone is taking their damn time looking at things and looking at deals doesn’t mean he’s going to steal something if you want to stop shoplifting start working out grow your legs do some cardio and be able to sprint faster than everyone else post someone outside those doors have someone by the door but don’t follow someone’s every move. Judging someone by the way they look and since we’re going that route since it clearly is being shown that he’s being judged by the way he looks I might as well say it he’s not even a minority that you would stereotype to be a shoplifter yes he has a face that looks like he doesn’t want to messed around with but can you change that in someone who is dealing with his own problems and out of all areas to go shoplift at the fishing aisle is beyond my belief too. I hope and pray this changes because I wouldn’t want anyone on Post to come shop here if this is the way it is to even one of the...

After receiving my compound bow from Bass Pro, in pieces, not as shown on the website, I went to Bass Pro in CoSpgs to get the pieces installed. I was asked to sign in, no questions asked. After about a two hour wait, it was my turn. I needed the peep sight installed, draw length adjusted and draw weight set. Not too hard if you have a press. Well, the gentlemen working the back somehow could not complete this on his own and needed someone else, that was coming in soon, to complete the work. I was told they would have it done when I got back from lunch. Upon my return, there was my bow, in a stand, still in pieces. I asked what had happened, or had not happened, and was told that they were very busy. I let them know what had transpired earlier that day and was asked to leave it with them. Keep in mind they still needed me there to adjust the peep sight for the new draw length. I told them I live more than 40 miles away and did not want to leave it. Didn’t matter, they couldn’t work on it that day. With no other option, I went to the front desk to get a refund. After another considerable wait, a young male manager finally appears, speaking to me like one of his fellow millennials, asked me what my problem was. Well, now I have a bigger problem but Kept my cool and explained what had happened. It was like talking to a fence post. I told them never mind and took my bow home where I was able to get a return label, taped up the box my bow was still in and dropped it at UPS. That was 29 Dec 2019. On 30 Jan I received two gift cards for about half the refund amount. The rest they were going to return to my debit card, only that account is closed. Now I am unable to get someone to call me back despite the 4 times I have contacted them to provide another payment source or ask them to just issue another gift card. I did tell the 4 CS reps I spoke to that would be just fine. Now I pretty much hate Bass Pro and don’t want any more gift cards. I’m thinking the only thing they are pros at is terrible customer service and coming up with excuses why they can’t help you. Not to mention their prices are almost as bad as their CS. Worst shopping experience of my life. Best thing they can do is sell Cabelas before they ruin it completely and file for bankruptcy. Do us all a...
