2020 Hellscream haunted house was absolutely pathetic. Not much change up in design from the past few years, besides adding a bunch of mannequins, which is fine, but there were only about 3 actors you come across in the entire thing and the actors are the actual scare factor, and the actors they did have didnt even put on a show!!!! đ I'm a wuss in haunted houses and would normally rate this 5 stars but definitely only 1 this year and its only because it was still aesthetically pleasing to look at and because i have to rate it 1 star at a minimum.
Not sure if its due to covid regulations and keeping social distance, but they really shouldnt have bothered this year. Dont waste your money! Wait until they go back to normal! Would be a great time to take little kids tho! I understand businesses are hurting because of Covid. But so are we and everyone else so if youre gonna be a businesses that charges a fortune and not live up to the expectation, shame on you!
Response to owner: I noticed some changes, like stated. Obviously me coming once or twice a year and you being the owner, the minimal changes will seem like a lot to you, but to others if it feels familiar it feels familiar ya know? New things did stand out. Definitely a good job on the bathroom scene though, liked that attribute. Definitely needed more scare factors . Things jumping out and popping up, you know, the things that usually make the haunted house worth it? As for the actors, maybe they just didnt do anything so we didnt notice if there were more. But we definitely only encountered a pig face man who scared us a little. The other dude that was like a scientist of some sort cutting up a body, meh. Talked in a normal voice for the most part and didnt do anything creepy. There was a creepy lady after a potion station area or something of the sort who was decent but no scare factor and the chainsaw guy who always gets me the worst. So 4 actors who interacted. And then a lady who just sat on a bed, i saw her rock a little later but didnt do a darn thing when we went through and some chick lying on the ground in a weird postion who just kinda swayed a little. Otherwise it was just a walk through looking at Halloween decorations.
Im sorry you find my review conflicting and you're not satisfied with it. But the public should know thats its definitely not what it usually is and just not really worth the money this year. The aesthetic is awesome, as always. And me being a big baby, I'd usually rate this and haunted mines as scary enough for me 10/10. But this year I jumped about two times and the rest of my party didnt jump at all đ¤ˇââď¸ My group and I dont buy VIP tickets year after year to both haunted houses because we are unsatisfied. This is a first for us so maybe hear out your customers instead of...

Every time I think an escape room is the best one, I find another one that tops it. Fortunately, or, unfortunately depending on how you see it, I don't think any other room will top The Elevator. At first I thought it was just a gimmick, and it is, and that's okay. Regardless, the elevator still adds immense flavor to the puzzles and rooms, which is where the actual substance of this establishment lies. The room design is disgusting (in a great way) and the puzzles are dynamic, cooperative, and engaging: the designer(s) have you scramble across multiple rooms to solve puzzles, require you to work with your team(mates) and try to evoke almost all your senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell) in order for you to escape the room. Combine this with the fact that you have three skillful actors each with their own unique personality and costume flair scaring you along the way, and you have a recipe for a horrifyingly magnificent escape room.
While my friends and I have beaten escape rooms that have most certainly been harder, this was the escape room that made me realize that harder == better. Because the puzzles aren't necessarily mind-wrenchingly difficult, but they're fun. In many escape rooms there's usually a cheap time sink, but in this one, there was no cheap time sink. Every part was enjoyable, and even though the actors helped a lot (which they may), it ironically didn't detract from our experience! Their "clues" were often vague, so the solving still felt earned especially when you're feeling scared out of your mind, which you will...
I highly recommend you come to this place! Whether you're a fan of escape rooms, horror, or even both, this is the place for you. Honestly, the only reason why you WOULDN'T come to this place is because you're too scared to. So,...
Read moreAs with art, comedy, and music, horror is subjective. I've been to Hellscream Haunted House before, but it was back in 2014 or so.
Being that it's been 8 or so years since I've been to the Haunted House I'll tell ya things definitely change over time. For the better? I dunno. If you want complete transparency, I think they spent more time decorating and setting up props than they did on their act(s) they were open for 22 days and it felt like I was walking through the most disappointing episode from the Goosebumps show of the early 2000s. I wish I could say I was joking. The props were pretty top notch, but the acting was subpar at best.
I won't leave this review busting on the place and the actors like they didn't get me a few times, but the acting was pitiful. I feel like a large downfall to this place is sending a large number of groups in at one time. groups have different pacing and it says that on the sign before you enter, but if a group catches up to another before the actor in said area has time to prepare or reset, it turns into a half baked attempt at a jump scare. I feel like this happened a lot tonight. One actor didn't even try scaring people, he was just doing tik tok / fortnite dances.
All in all if professional reviewers believe Hellscream is the BEST #1 Haunted House in CO Springs I guess COS sucks pretty hard. I literally said on the way out " well that sucked" as kind of a knee jerk reaction. I applaud the actors for their effort, they tried and that's what matters. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it? Horror is subjective. Experience it for...
