“ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!” Those words would be an accurate summary of our experience working with Brenda at Johannes Hunter Jewelers. My fiance came in looking for a specific setting style for a specific diamond shape, and Brenda completely honored those requests and our budget. What’s more, she noticed certain things within the setting category that my fiance seemed most drawn to, and her ability to hone in on these tastes made the process that much smoother.
Most important to us was Brenda’s patience and true desire to find the right ring, instead of looking for a quick sale. Originally, we were going to have a ring custom made, but when the CAD renderings came back, my fiance just wasn’t in love. What stood out to me the most, though, was when she changed her mind, Brenda was right there to support the decision, without making us feel bad or guilty for not going with the original custom made plan (which I know must have taken quite a bit of time already). We went back to the drawing board, and she showed us a ring that she had previously had out for us. She showed us different pairings with wedding bands, and my fiance was smiling ear to ear! To reiterate, though, Brenda isn’t the type of person looking for a quick sale; in fact, she sent us back home to think about the decision for a few days. She runs on the philosophy that it is better to make these decisions slowly and thoroughly, instead of rushing into the decision and getting swept up by shine and bling. She wanted to be sure that we made a decision that we would be happy with years down the road. Brenda was straightforward with us about all information, and we really appreciated that we could make such a huge decision knowing that we were getting honest info and insight.
We went to a couple different stores (both local and in Denver) before stopping here, but we 100% made the right decision working with Brenda! This is hands-down the best jewelry store around. Brenda was thoughtful, honest, genuine, professional, kind, and just overall wonderful throughout the process. Thank you, Brenda and Johannes Hunter, for all you have...
Read moreSo about a year ago, me and my now fiancé walked into Johannes Hunter and had a great visit with Rebekah. She was attentive to what my then girlfriend was looking for and pointed us in the direction of a very fun, unique designer, Parade. We went then so I could get an idea of what my fiancé liked. Rebekah took notes, measurements, like and dislikes and was very professional. Not once while we were in the store did we feel pressured to leave there with something. A year later I went back to visit and Rebekah instantly recognized me. Now that's great customer service. She helped me secure the ring I wanted and also finding a center stone that met my desired quality while working within my budget. Rebekah also assisted in making sure the ring was insured before leaving the store. The whole process, while stressful about this life commitment, was actually quite enjoyable. But it gets better... About 2 weeks after I had purchase the ring and center stone, my girlfriend suggested we re-visit ring shopping and suggested a re-visit to Johanne Hunter. I reluctantly agreed but not before texting Rebekah on a work cell and asking for this huge favor. We arrived at the store, and EVERY employee acted like they hadn't seen me or us in a year and welcomed us back into the store. We were sad to find out the ring we wanted to look at had been sold (Because I already bought it) but they could arrange for a Parade rep to visit with one in a few weeks. Rebekah again helped us and showed us some other rings that met the criteria of what we were looking for. It was the greatest ring cover up EVER. Even after already making the sale, the whole store helped in playing along and convincing my fiancé that we could get the ring again to look at and go from there. I would highly suggest visiting the folks at Johannes Hunter if you are looking at getting an engagement ring or just casual jewelry. I know I will be back for...
Read moreI have been holding off writing this review for a while now due to the poor condition JHJ has left my ring in.
In February 2023 I came in to get my engagement ring resized from a 7.75 to a 6.5. Rebekah was very helpful and kind which made me trust this store to resize my ring. The resize cost $111.
Upon pickup, I was excited to wear my ring after the 2 weeks it took to get the ring worked on. The special engraving and important stamps on the inside of my band was obliterated, which was not something that was mentioned in the consultation. I was sad but excited to have my ring in the correct size. However, after a few days my white gold ring was yellow gold and I noticed there was a crack in the metal basket setting. I brought my ring back in and was told it was a defect in the metal and they took an additional $131 to fix the crack. Very suspicious since I wore the ring for 5 months prior with no crack and no signs of yellowing at all.
They fixed the crack and replated it again. A week later, my ring was yellow again. You could tell the yellow only showed through where they polished off the original plating. I contacted them again and brought it in again for a third time for replating.
The third plating did not hold up for even a week. I put them in touch with my jeweler who made the ring overseas and he could not figure out why JHJ could not replate the ring correctly. In my final phone call with JHJ, they told me the plating could not survive because of the ph balance of my skin and suggested that I get my ring remade in platinum, which could cost thousands of dollars.
In my search for a new bench jeweler, not a single person recommended JHJ.
In the end, I trusted a different local jeweler who replated my ring successfully in one try.
If you did not purchase your gold plated jewelry from JHJ, beware that they may leave you with a damaged ring and give you no other option but a very...
