Update May 20, 2024: I recently took my family to the Picture Show for a movie. The rewards program is still the same. No changes or updates have been made. I'm not complaining, just responding to their comment after I left my original review. Which made mention that they were going to re-vamp their rewards program. This has not happened. I know this because I went to their theater last week & my purchases received reward points. On my account, it showed how the points are tallied up. I took a screenshot & posted it to show that the points are not any different than they were before.
Original Review July 17, 2023: I want to give this place more credit. I really do. So I'll leave my review based on my most recent experience & long history with this theater.
This place had gotten really run down & gross for years. Then the theater closed for a time, while a lot of work got done to update the interior. Great job to the ownership. The updates & upgrades have made the whole experience so much better. When the work was done, we all saw a huge jump in the prices, especially at the ticket counter. Considering all things, their ticket prices are still about half the average cost of any other major Colorado Springs theater, maybe even less.
A little bonus happens when you sign up for the rewards program. You automatically get 4000 points. Which can be redeemed for a small popcorn or regular size drink. Congratulations!
As of today, July 17, 2023, if my research of the member program is correct, movie tickets are worth 75 points & concession foods are worth 25 points per $1 spent.
There is a huge distance between 0 points & 4000 points (the lowest available reward tier) that could take a long time & loads of money (no kidding) in order to reach again. And for what, a small popcorn / regular size drink?
Let's run the #'s. If a rewards customer only buys movie tickets to get points & does not buy food, they would have to buy 54 movie tickets at 75 points each in order to accumulate another 4050 points. Assuming that this loyal rewards customer might see 10 movies per year. It would take over 5 years to reach their next 4000 point reward. By then, they may have forgotten that they had points to redeem. I'm not sure why this is called a rewards program.
Time for some history, you may remember that the price for a movie ticket here at this location used to be $1.75 or less depending on the day you went to this theater. The new ticket price is $7.75 as of July 2023. If you do the math, that is over a 440% increase. Top this off with the long-term relationship customers must have with the rewards program to receive a first tier reward & one starts to see The Picture Show gives a whole...
Read moreEdit: heartbroken to write this because I really was so happy to see how it changed, but all good things come to an end, I suppose. Back in May 2024 I went in with my kids to watch a movie my kids were so excited for. Our night and month were ruined when i took a nasty fall in front of the cash register. Ankle twisted, knee bruised, nobody cared. I was on the floor for a good minute or two, couldn't move my leg, couldn't move my foot. The young lady at the cash register simply went around the counter and directly to clean up the mess I had made with the popcorn when I fell. Didn't ask if I was okay. Later the regional manager told me the rubber thing that's in front of the cash register that causes my ankle to twist and me to fall is supposed to be there so... Wtf? All I was asking for was some empathy. Had to get X-rays, a brace on my leg for my knee, and one on my foot for a swollen ankle. And these people prefer to cover their behinds in case of a lawsuit, I guess. Which I never threatened. But they don't maintain their place. Those rubber bases or whatever are protruding, some missing. Their prices keep going up so why not plug a little money into that to ensure the safety of patrons? I hope they can take care of that before someone gets seriously hurt. It took me a good month of wearing a brace and using crutches to recover. I shutter to think what else could have happened. I will never come here again. I recommend anyone to give their business to other more aware and customer service oriented businesses. (I will keep original comment i wrote years ago to show the disappointment I feel with what happened)
Original comment: I had previously given this place 2 stars. Because they had let it fall. It was musty and stinky. But just yesterday friends convinced me to give it a chance. We did. And we couldn't be happier to know that this place is back. And better. I will give credit where credit is due and this place deserves credit. It is now our new...

Best theater in town for people in wheelchairs to see first run movies, FROM THE BACK! Also, people with challenges physically have the back row saved! Wheelchair seats and accompanying customers do not have to sit in the front and feel like they have Whiplash from the screen being so close that you are trying to get your head further and further back so that you can see well!
At the other theaters they might have two or three individual auditoriums with an elevator to allow people in wheelchairs to sit somewhere that is not so close to the screen that they can see it from straight on and from the side - but this theater has multiple seats in each Auditorium in the back for people in wheelchairs and it's significantly less expensive than other places that have both stadium seating and recliners - this theater does only have recliners but with how far apart they are - the stadium seating does not factor in into a seat assignment decision at least not for my family. All of my pictures are of the handicapped and accompanying seats or either people that are handicapped or accompanying those in wheelchairs and I included one that lets you see the safety bars so the wheelchair does not go down because it is not Stadium seated so it still has the old slope that it's always had - but one of my pictures that's you see the screen from the wheelchair seating on the right and from the wheelchair seating on the left and I did not bother to label them because it's going to be a little bit different depending on which Auditorium you're in but they're actually good seats in my opinion and they have seats reserved for people that can't walk the distance but still need to sit further back which is what makes something like Tinseltown difficult or people that are not in a wheelchair but still have movement difficulties plus Vision difficulties that don't allow them to sit really close...
