If you use captions or need a CC Device for any reason, this was my experience:
Food was good, seats were fine (low the recline and heated portions), over all the vibes are fun.
Earlier in the day of our movie, I called to confirm that closed caption devices were available for non-captioned shows. They said all good but then let me know that you have to turn in an ID in exchange for a closed caption device. This felt uncomfy and I was very kind (as others around can attest to. Like Iām not going to yell at people just doing their job in the phone obvi), and asked if there were other options like another thing that could be exchanged (although the need to exchange something for an accessibility device is definitely a little icky). Avery, a manager, said it was chill and just give them her name and my name when I get there. Cool yay! (She did talk to someone right before to confirm. Idk who but this isnāt all on my gurl Avery).
So I get there and the people are nice overall. I give them a library card and they take my name yay. The first one didnāt work but thatās not uncommon in my experience. I get another before the actual show began. So yay!
Then I go to turn in the device and one of the people at the front desk says āitās the library card.ā And scoffs slightly while turning around with his back to me. Meringue at the front then took it back and gave me my library card. I say thank you and start to turn away and the not Meringue person at the front desk makes a snarky comment about me being uncomfy with trading a drivers license with personal information on it for an accessibility device. My face starts to contort and one of the two says āshe hears just fine.ā(which like, my aid puts in wurk, a d Iāve lived my whole life this way so like I manage yes, thank you?)
I was hurt. I left. Now my friend is driving us home and Iām writing this so I donāt forget things later. (Not trying to bum the mood so just plopping this here instead so others can make their own decisions.)
But yeah, overall, the vibes of the food and all that were great but maybe not the most accessible or disability kind place Iāve ever been.
Edit added later the same evening after Iāve had time to shed some of the shame and guilt and hurt- One other things I was thinking is that I was fully planning on having a drink with the movie. I was out with friends, not driving, and rarely drink, so I thought Iād treat myself. When I was about to order, I thought about what the very kind person taking my order might think. I clearly had a CC device and yet she would need my ID to order a drink. But she probably knew the policy of ID=CC Device. So then I was scared what questions might be asked or assumptions made. So I didnāt. I didnāt order any drink because that felt uncomfy. All around, this was an icky scratchy experience as a hearing impaired person.
So, I donāt know, if youāre hearing impaired, deaf, or need a CC device for any reason for shows that arenāt on screen captioned, this is just something to consider, be prepared for, and prepare your heart (especially if you appear outwardly able bodied because the worst of the experience came from the one ending experience although the guilt and shame and extra steps throughout were exhausting) for because it...

I recently visited RoadHouse Cinema in Colorado Springs with my daughter to see Deadpool 3, and unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. While the idea of ordering food while enjoying a movie sounds great, the execution was severely lacking.
I ordered a $10 root beer float, a $5 Pepsi, and a plate of nachos to share with my daughter. When the nachos arrived, they were cold and unappetizing, and the root beer float was already meltedāas though our food had been sitting out for a while before being served. I politely informed the waiter, simply to make him aware of the situation, and his response was shockingly rude. He defensively stated that he wouldn't take the root beer float off the bill because "I had already drunk most of it." I hadnāt asked for any refund or remedy, just courtesy. He walked off and never returned to check on us.
About 20 minutes later, after watching other guests being served promptly, I spoke to a manager, M.E.M., who apologized and recommended the Reuben sandwich. I specifically asked for it without Thousand Island dressing. Unfortunately, another 25-30 minutes passed, and when the sandwich finally arrived, it was slathered with Thousand Island and mostly cold. The fries, I will admit, were good. But the sandwich was not what I ordered, and neither I nor my daughter could finish it.
Adding insult to injury, the waiter ignored us for the remainder of the movie, and when we finally received the bill, it was $33 for inedible food and poor service. Despite explaining everything to another manager on the way out, there was no empathy or effort to correct the situation. I was charged for everything, even the untouched nachos and uneaten sandwich. I thought that jerk had refused or forgotten to give me back my debit card but I later found it. Thank goodness!
The customer service here was appalling, and the food overpriced and disappointing. I highly recommend avoiding RoadHouse Cinema if you're looking for a decent movie-going experience or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI forgot my debit card, but had cash - it seemed to be a problem! So I didn't get to try the food and the drink options.
It was so HOT in there I am surprised people didn't have heat stroke! Especially because the chair was preheated on high! I was so happy that I recently started carrying a bottle of ice with me in case of a hot flash... I hugged it the entire movie! If you offer people heated seats in 80°+ weather, maybe offer some air conditioning for people that don't want to be baked! I am not typically a person that gets overheated...but my seat was also preheated to such a degree that it was almost uncomfortable to sit on! That's far to hot since I use a huge heating pad for pain daily - I thought I would enjoy it, before I got hot! It was the first movie of the day, so it must have been on a long time...it was at noon so it's not like they had been open an Incredibly long time or anything!
The LED lights on the stairs are unreasonably bright- because I checked the reviews before I went I purposely set as far away from the aisle as I could and it was still unreasonably bright!
Many people have said that the restaurant service during the movie was not distracting - I have to disagree! It was not as distracting as I thought it would be, but it was definitely distracting!
Most of all it was very irritating is last call! Well it was really the people who decided that at the point in the movie which happened to be the climax was an appropriate time to pass out people's bills...but why not wait- or ask patrons to wait until the credits for getting out their phones! I feel if you can't know what your bill should be when you order - ask for your bill early! Or wait for credits before getting out flashlights!they waited until after everyone was gone to pick them up! So clearly the signature and tip amounts could wait... Or they could have chosen a different time in the movie since I went the last week of movie- they have probably seen it hundreds of times...
