Perfect Urban Park for Daily Walking & Community Activities
This park has become an essential part of our daily routine - I take Kygo here every morning for our 2+ mile walk (to the park, around, and back), and it never disappoints.
What Makes Schiller Park Special:
Excellent Maintenance: Always clean and well-kept Beautiful mature trees providing great shade and scenery Well-maintained walking paths perfect for daily exercise
Friendly Community Atmosphere: Dog walkers, joggers, and families are consistently friendly and respectful Great sense of community among regular park users Safe, welcoming environment for daily activities
Outstanding Recreational Facilities: Sports courts: Pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts in good condition Historic Recreation Center: Well maintained community facility Beautiful landscaping: Tall, mature trees create a park-like oasis in the city

Read moreI visited Schiller Park recently 7-9-2022] -- for my first time in many years. I had been walking between the AT&T store at 900 S. High St. and the Parsons Branch Library at 1113 Parsons Ave.; Schiller Park had been exactly on that route so I decided to stop there for a brief visit.
It had been fun to be able to see the "Umbrella Girl" statue [that had been installed in 1996] for my first time ever; I also saw the statue of Friedrich Schiller [by Max von Widnmann for my first time in many years.
The sun had been so high in the sky while I had been at Schiller Park [because of it having been nearly noon during the middle of the summer] that I had gotten "turned around" by 90° when preparing to leave the park with plans to walk from there to the Parsons Branch Library.
Evidently, I had turned east from City Park Ave. to Deshler Ave. without having noticed that fact because I had been looking mostly towards a pond surrounded by trees rather than keeping track of the nearby streets.
I actually had to ask another park visitor, "which way is Parsons Ave.?" [my next destination] while walking east on Reinhard Ave. because I had been convinced that I had been walking south at that moment while in fact I had been walking east.
I also saw -- for my first time in many years -- the Actors' Theatre of Columbus outdoor stage. I remember traveling to Schiller Park many years ago for what I remember as "Shakespeare in the Park," performed by what I had originally been called Actors' Summer Theatre.
In spite of the "Shakespeare in the Park" name that I clearly remember, I also remember that one of the three performances each year had been a "non-Shakespeare" play.
Actors' Theatre of Columbus continues to do performances -- "Shakespeare" and "non-Shakespeare" -- during the summer -- on their...
Read moreGreat Park for walk, run or bike. The landscaping is well groomed by a few different organizations including the city & German Village Singer's groups.
There is some great history there as well, so don't just blaze by and cut yourself short. The historic homes around it add to the atmosphere there as well.
There is an outdoor amphitheatre that has plays throughout the summer. Which is great for a family or date night picnic that isn't going to cost more than your supplies and a voluntary donation to help support the actors group.
There is also a community center as well that you can look up hours for, with a gym and various classes depending on time of year.
Take a moment, appreciate the beauty and tranquility of this little park, I'm pretty aure you'll be glad you did. Also when you're walking home or back to your car check out some of the flower beds or window boxes of the houses as German Village takes great pride in maintaining its beauty...
