TLDR: worth a visit, good price, fun atmosphere, good introductory haunt for those easily scared or younger audiences (specifically teens). For thrill seekers, it leaves something to be desired.
I went with a group of 6 on a Saturday night. We got tickets for the 10:30 time slot and opted for the fast pass option. When we arrived, the regular line was not very long and no one was in the fast pass lane so we went straight to the front and directly into the haunts. One ticket granted us access to all three haunts.
They take photos of your party before entering and give you free access to download the photo which we loved. The “midway” before getting in line has Cornhole, Jenga, photo ops, music and food vendors. This was a nice touch that we enjoyed before and after the haunts.
The three haunts; Echoes of the Exhumed, Rhinestones and Rituals, and Kill the Spotlight were back to back in that order. In between each haunt we were in a “waiting area” where the two haunts met for less than 3 minutes while we waited to begin the next. In total all three haunts took around 30-40 ish minutes to get through.
For our group, we thought Echoes of the Exhumed had the best scares while Rhinestones and Rituals was not as frightening and was a theme that was lack luster for us. Perhaps because it was high school prom centered and we were all in our later 20s and early 30s.
All in all, these were exciting and fun experiences. There are moments of good jump scares, some cool effects and detailed scenery. The scare actors were good and in character the whole time, especially the clowns in Kill the Spotlight.
One thing that could use some attention is their pacing. Despite going through the haunt at a normal/slow pace, we quickly found ourselves at the tail end of the group in front of us. While we wanted to slow down (and did at times tip toeing to the next area) to give distance the group ahead, we were unable to do so because of the 40 petrified teenage girls that quickly appeared right behind us. I am not kidding you, on our heels grabbing at us for cover lol. This meant that we were watching some of the scares happen to the group ahead of us before we could get there and same can be said for the group behind us, though I don’t think they cared to have us “save them” from it lol.
Good price for the experience regular tickets cost $29.99, the fast pass for $10.00 more and the instant access for $20.00 more.
Good haunt for younger audiences and those who scare easy. If you are a seasoned haunted house enthusiast and you need a little more to “get you” I wouldn’t suggest this unless you’re trying to go with a group with varying scare needs, then you’ll still enjoy their reactions and appreciate the effort and attention to details that these haunts...
Read moreWe bought fast pass VIP tickets. Loved it. Staff and actors were fabulous. Longer than we thought it would be. We thought it was going to be like 2 minutes long it was more like 30. We had several people giving us dirty looks because of our VIP fast passes pushing us to the front of the line don't be salty had you would have bought and paid the same price we paid for the tickets you could have had the same opportunity.Gift shop is lacking they didn't have much to offer. and certainly their website did not reflect what they had in the gift shop. Having never been before it was fabulous.we were not aware there was a food Booth out there as we had stopped at a local pizza place and had pizza.but I did see it said chicken tenders, drinks and other food. Upon going there there rules didn't make sense, however after we did the haunted house everything started to make sense.do not wear high heels or uncomfortable shoes as the platforms are very uneven and you're walking in different areas and there's different settings for everything I heated their warning and more comfortable shoes but I saw others did not. it also makes sense as to why they say no pocket knives or lighters as there are some very immature people out there in the world and it wouldn't be hard to destruct some of the decorations and props.I also Now understand the no bag rulenot only is it considered a safety hazard to get hooked on props and decorations and other things but people who are klepto maniacs and would like to steal props could very easily do so. So, again this made more sense after I went through the haunted house. We will definitely want to go back sometime. I would also like to point out that you are recorded in the haunted house at all times so if there is a medical emergency they have cameras in every part of the maze that you go in. they can see everything. you are not allowed to record in there at first I was disappointed but then I understood why it ruins the experience for others and it's also a violation of privacy of others do not want to be recorded.not to mention we didn't know what to really expect and it kept a lot of the props, decorations and actors a mystery for a far better experience and also I would say that no one else can be able to copy the fun house decorations and Exhibitsto make for a unique experience. Stellar five star...
Read moreMy group of 3 bought general admission tickets, knowing we would have to wait in line to enter. It was a shock to find out that that was the most entertaining part of the night. The actors outside weaving in and out of the lines were interactive, exciting, and well-trained. The music outside was definitely club-like, however it did bring a level of energy and enjoyment. After the 2 hour wait, we entered the building and were filled with delight because the decor and atmosphere was well put together. Once we actually entered, it was anticlimactic. The music inside was so loud and the fog was suffocating. The employees attempted to keep space between parties, however, we were all thrown through in one big line like cattle. You miss the scares because the group in front of you would catch it. They barely had any live actors and relied heavily on animatronics. Without actual people there resetting their positions or focusing on those who seem more scared, it just doesn’t seem worth the money. However, the actors that were there, did an excellent job, just wished they could have placed themselves in places that would have been less expected. The decor inside wasn’t what we were expecting at all. It seems like the company put more effort into interior design than actually trying to get a scare. Also, since you’re herded like cattle, the dividing door materials smack you right in the face, really takes away from trying to focus on not tripping over the people crammed in the small spaces. When I did my research on Fear Columbus, it was promoted that there would be 3 separate sets, however we only went through two lame parts. As someone who typically reads the reviews before going anywhere, I messed up by not looking at the ones for this event. It honestly was a huge letdown. We were pushed into the gift shop that you could barely see anything in because of the fog and dim lights. We couldn’t even find the door to exit out of. All and all, the whole “haunted” experience took 45 minutes. I definitely had higher hopes since the company spends so much money on trailers and advertisements, you would think it would have been good and scary. 2 hour drive for a haunted house that wasn’t even scary. Will not...
