For 37 dollars I would expect a proper easel for the orientation of the canvas and decent paint choices. I paint with oil and acrylics and came here for a birthday get together. The first thing I noticed was that the finished example on the stage where the guide would be teaching us looked nothing like the one on the reservation. It was not pretty... The next thing I noticed was that the easel was too short to hold the canvas properly. The top of the easel had a metal edge that dug into the canvas. We should have had the wooden easels that can handle the canvas in the portrait orientation that was required for the painting, the ones I see in photographs of otherโs visit there. The next disappointment was the awful paint we were given to use. We were given pink straight from a bottle to use to paint the flowers and green that looked very unnatural for the leaves. We also had brown, black, and white. I asked for yellow and because I have some experience painting I was able to pull something decent off with those colors. However, there is no way we could have achieved the color that was represented to us in the reservation photo with those colors, itโs not possible. And there was very little instruction to everyone else on how to handle the colors that were given. It seemed like the tools you would give an 8 year older to paint and not grown people who know how to make some better decisions about color. I really wish I had taken a photograph of the one used for demonstration on site so I could show you how different it looks from the reservation picture you are sent when you decide to spend 37 dollars. This could have been done...
ย ย ย Read moreUpdated: i have been to many a "paint and bring your own drink" night and have often enjoyed the experience. We had a great time painting and jamming out to the perfect mix of music at this particular painting experience and will certainly attend again.
But I have never had a studio owner go to such great lengths to ensure everyone has such an amazing time. Tammy (owner) WILL go all out to make it happen. The owner was so kind to gift each mother in attendance for Mother's Day, a special coupon for future use. It was sweet and impressive.
The paint colors are supplied for you and placed at your station before your arrival (I've often had to gather paint colors myself at previous other locations/venues). Nice touch!
Music selection was ahhmazing. Perfect mix and volume. From kiddos to a more elder crowd - all were all jamming out, singing and dancing to the tunes. Atmosphere was perfect. Lighting. Location. All of it. It felt spacious and exceptionally clean. There were a ton of people in attendance but it never felt that way. We all had enough space to do our own thing.
Price point is fair and just.
Did I mention the owner is awesome?!
All in all - a good experience. Will definitely visit again but seek out other instructors....
ย ย ย Read moreI went with a friend on โwalk in paintingโ one time in the afternoon and there was no instructor which we did not know but we had a great time! The music was great and there was just the two of us and the attendant was very helpful with extra paint and checking in on us. We have tried to go several times after and they have been closed even though the hours post online and on the door said open. I called the number a few times and they said they would not do walking hours for two months because of scheduled โteam eventsโ, Unfortunately we donโt have an open schedule to come at a schedule appointment time so we will try another place in Columbus. We really did have a great experience...
