I took my 8 year old grandson to get his dreads retouched. This was his first visit to the shop. His hair turned out fantastic!! He was so very excited and happy! â¤ď¸ However the experience was not pleasant. It was slightly unprofessional and rather childish. The stylist waited 30 minutes before she introduced herself. She was obviously over booked and havenât had a chance to eat lunch yet. She was rushing between 3 clients not including my grandson. She went in the back a few times to grab a bite to eat. That wasnât a big deal. What was really undesirable is she looked over my grandsonâs shoulder and read a text I sent to my daughter. I complained that she washed, conditioned and sat him under the dryer twice while she tried to finish up her other clients. I didnât understand why she spent so much time re-washing his hair. Instead of her explaining their detox process and how it takes several washes, she had an attitude and told another stylist about the text message she should NOT have read to begin with. It actually became a conversation in the shop amongst the stylists. Then she called over another stylist to talk about the condition of my grandsonâs hair. They were asking him questions. I had know idea what he or they were saying. My child has been through some things that contributed to his hair breakage. But, he was finally in the chair so I chose not to say anything. Then she called me over. OMG! She said look at his hair, he has a lot of breakage, who dreaded his hair, and what am I supposed to do with this. etc. etc. I was stuck for a quick second. I interrupted her whack comments and told her I know how bad his hair is and thatâs why Iâm here. I asked are you telling me you canât do his hair? How do we remedy this. Then she said âOh, I can make it look goodâ. After she was finished with his hair, my child was extremely happy and grateful. It was priceless !! I asked how should I care for his hair between visits. I want to get his hair back healthy and save his dreads. He response was classic ... she said just leave his hair alone and started to laugh. Iâm so very appreciative that she did a great job on my grandsonâs hair. I was really hoping she could tell me how to stimulate his growth and what I should do between visits to help get his hair back healthy. ... and yes, I paid for...
Read moreI decided to get my hair done at this salon for my birthday because they offered the style I was looking for. When I called to get a quote, I spoke with Naba. She asked me to send her a photo of the style, and after I did, she quoted me $300. Compared to the $400â$500 other salons were charging, I thought it was a good deal. What I didnât realize was that the lower price would reflect the quality of service I received.
To her credit, Naba was very understanding when I had to push my appointment back due to an issue with ordering my hair. Once I arrived, she asked if I wanted the twists with knots or knotless. This was confusing, since the picture I sent clearly showed knotless, and I also told her thatâs what I wanted. She suggested that the knot-in method would last longer, but I confirmed that I still wanted knotless.
She started the first twist and let me check the length and size. I was happy with it, so I assumed the rest would look the same. Unfortunately, that wasnât the case. As she continued, I noticed the braids felt too tight, but I convinced myself not to overthink it because I wanted the style to turn out perfect for my birthday, I was paying $300, and I didnât want to micromanage after already rescheduling. Another stylist even came over and said they looked cute, so I tried to trust the process.
The style took 12 hours with lots of breaks. By the end, I was exhausted and just wanted to leave, so when I looked at the final result, I said I liked it, paid, and went home. But once I looked closer in the mirror, I knew it wasnât what I wanted. My hair wasnât full, it felt stiff, and it hurt to styleânone of which should happen with properly done knotless twists. Almost every braid looked like it had been started with a knot, as if my hair was braided first and then extensions were added.
Itâs only been two weeks, but my hair looks like Iâve had the style for nearly a month. Iâm already taking it out, and it completely ruined my birthday experience because my hair wasnât how I envisioned it. I honestly wish I had paid through Zelle so I could dispute the charge, because at this point it feels like I was scammed.
I have attached pictures below of what my hair looks like now and picture of...
Read moreI am extremely upset with the service i received today. The night before my appointment (last night) i colored and deep conditioned my hair, and blow dried it perfectly for the stylist to work on. when i walked in i was kindly greeted at the door and the stylists asked me if i needed a wash, and i responded no thank you. I did not want my hair washed because as i said i just colored it and shampoo washing it the next day would strip the color. I dyed my hair to match my extensions. My hair was clean. She proceeded to take me to the washing bowl and shampoo my hair, as she was washing my hair she explained to me that i wouldnât be able to receive the initial service i booked. then i sat under a dryer for over an hour waiting to just have the stylist acknowledge my hair. after we had a conversation about different types of sew ins, even tho i have a lot of hair knowledge and i knew exactly what i wanted. she tried to make it sound like i didnât know what i was talking about. i wanted 4 individual tracks spaced between my hair to create a natural extension look, the website lists each track is 10-15 dollars. so i wasnât expecting to spend more than 80 leaving a 20 dollar tip because i always tip good. she proceeded to do a âpartial sew inâ on my hair which is not at all what i wanted. she told me to look at my hair and feel it and see if i wanted more. i looked in the mirror (hair unfinished so i couldnât really tell) and i asked âis my hair going to blendâ being very unsure of the way it looked. and she told me yes. she then flat ironed my hair and bluntly cut my leave out with no since of patients she just snipped it so i was left with a very ugly horrible look. and she charged me 150 dollars that i did not have. my mother had to pull it out of her pocket and give it to me so i could pay this woman that completely took advantage of my time, patients and money. i will never return...
